Re: Mahendra 1526 Vs Kubota L25

I have a kubota l3800 and stack large square bales 3x3x7 700lbs 3 high

Peter,

Not a problem moving slow on flat firm ground.

But that is not the case every time, and that is the danger.

How do you go about adjusting the relief valves?

   / Mahindra 1526 Vs Kubota L2501 #93
On these models they are not adjustable at the main pump relief, you need to shim the spring. 0.030" thk. s/s washer does wonders

Where is this spring located? And where does one obtain this .030 washer?
Do I need to be concerned with blowing seals with the added pressure?

You can get the shims from Kubota or you can use a #10 stainless steel washer on both the models I had. It's easy to do but you need to be able to test your hydraulic pressure.

The hydraulic pressure will be listed in your manual. You can set it at that pressure to play it safe. Or you can set it 5% above and live on the edge.

Do a search on TBN and you can't find how to adjust the pressure relief valve. You can also find how to build a rig to test your hydraulic pressure.

I would not set my PRV above spec. A bent loader is a PITA.

I certainly would not do it on a Mahindra. (I realize that is inflammatory but it is also true). :confused3:

Ask Mike, who posted above, about increasing pressure. ... Or even (gasp) increasing loader lift cylinder size! Now that's balls. LoL!

I think Kubota Engineers are well known to be very conservative so I felt safe in what I did. I may be fortunate, but 500 hours later of abusing the heck out of the loader I haven't damaged anything. Everybody's got to make their own decision though of course.

I do encourage everybody to at least check the pressure of their hydraulic system and make sure it is at least AT spec values. There are lots of reports on here of new Kubotas being delivered from the dealer below the specer pressure. The OP could even have the dealer check/confirm. :drink:

You're making me nervous with that statement. :) The reason is because I'm having a Westendorf TA-111 loader installed at their factory on my Mahindra 3015 which shows a ML110 loader as standard.
The TA-111 is rated at 2300 pounds at the pivot pin (I assume at full height of 99") while the ML110 is rated at 1350 pounds at the pivot pin at full height (95.5") indicated.

The 2300 pounds on the Westendorf is shown at 2200 PSI but I don't know what PSI the Mahindra loader is shown at but I'm guessing it's no more than 2200 PSI.
The Westendorf TA-111 has 2.0" diameter bore lift cylinders but not sure about the Mahindra ML110 but I would guess about 45mm or 1.77".

I also realize that the loader geometry relative to the lift cylinders centerline at full height is probably somewhat different resulting in another unknown.

My plan is to set the loader valve relief setting on the Westendorf to about 1300 (1290) PSI so that the lift capacity is theoretically the same as the Mahindra. (Breaking the tractor in half would not be considered my idea of fun)

What are your thoughts?

I'm certainly not a mechanical or structural engineer. But I'm thinking your plan makes my suggestion of bumping the relief pressure look like chlids play!

I think your front spndles aren't long for this world! But good for you for trying it. Seriously. You'll get a lot of nay-sayers with reasons why this may very well not working (and probably good reasons too), but just play it smart..ish.

Nay-sayer #1 other than damaging your tractor or yourself (by flipping it lifting too much weight) is that those bigger cylinders might be SLOW to cycle with your hydraulic pump's GPM...

Good luck.

With that said, I do have to question the 2300 pound lift capacity of the Westendorf 2" pistons at 2200 PSI. The rated lift of my Kubota B9200, for example, with 1.770" (45mm) pistons at 1930 PSI is 838 pounds. Even bumping the Kubota to 2200 PSI would only bring it up to 955 pounds lift capacity.
So figuring 2300 pounds divided by 955 pounds comes to 2.41 ratio where difference in piston area between the two is only 1.28 ratio. I suspect that Westendorf is stating their lift capacity of 2300 pounds as being at ground level which I would call breakout force.
Any thoughts on that?

Edited spelling.
