I find the sun lovers I work with spend all day in a climate controlled building and then drive home over the hill where it was a 100+ all day and say how nice it was to go for a walk or ride at 8 pm at night...
Somehow I doubt most would feel the same if they had to work outside during the heat of the day.
Once I had a home I was selling in escrow and part of the deal was to put a new roof on the detached garage... it was up to 117 and never under a 100 that week... the roofing nails went right through the comp shingles... a gallon of Gatorade easy those two days...
If I have to do hard labor outside in summer, I take a washcloth, soak it in cold water, wring it out slightly, fold it into 1/4, and slap it right on top of my bald head. Then I put a straw hat on. For some reason, that works just great for me. The evaporative effect under the straw hat works great! I add new cold water to the cloth about every 45-60 mintutes, and alternate water with gatorade.
