Lovely pics of your daughter Andrew. Shame about the trailer fine, in the UK you also need an MOT, though I believe there is an exemption if gross weight is below 1 ton.

That seems like an altogether enlightened policy. My trailer is 750kg gross weight. Unbraked, so all there is to check is whether the wheels turn and the hitch latches. e.g. those things the user would right away notice anyway. I have my guesses as to the reasons for the strict enforcement of this, but it belongs in a different sub-forum. ;-)

Good morning all, 26 going to 50 and sunny today then a chance of snow/rain through Tuesday night. Planning to take it easy today, like most days lately. Glad I don't have snow to move. Have a great one, prayers sent for wives, knees, babies and mamas, and all in need. Ed

No church today. We were getting ready when Jana noticed the stub of the umbilical cord had fallen off. She called her obgyn, who said to put betadine (iodine solution) on the wound. Took a while to find that in the mess of a medicine cabinet, and then late to go to church.

I cut the cord too long when Gloria was born. Our pediatrician had just left for a Thai vacation, leaving the retired head of the delivery department at the hospital to substitute. She compensating for my mistake by clamping and cutting the cord far to short. I had gone to get something from the car while she did this, and had just assumed that this little thing wouldn't be messed up.

Ever visit a coffee farm? We have friends and neighbors that grow. A close neighbor is working about 300 trees. Recently finished pruning.
Coffee production is very labor intensive long before the roasting stage.

I picked a few beans in Thailand, don't know the variety but it was in the small end of the Himalayas so I guess it was Himalayan. Ed

a chilly 35 degrees with a possible snow flurry this morning, but that big rain system is now headed offshore, looks like between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain here. This morning I go out to see if anything washed away in the garden.

L4N, I just take pics of the seeds on top for fun, to see the different types of seed. In that planting mix, I take the round end of a magic marker and press the seed down about half an inch and then cover and lightly tamp down. Then in to the kitchen where I water the seedling tray gently with warm water from the sprayer.

Feeling lazy, unlikely to get much done today. Going to go back into the 80's this coming weekend, and the lawn is greening. I ran the new mower for about an hour yesterday creating great clouds of dust, which for sure is all gone now, considering there are big pools of water out in the lawn.

Yes, I agree, Gloria yawning has me yawning too. Best wishes to Andrew's family.

Today is my day to think over cars. Changing cars the current dealer way would cost me a lot of money. Pretty sure I'm going to tell them to just wait and when I sell my Jaguar and the Outback, then I'll come back and buy a car from them, since their trade in values are so crummy as to not motivate me to take the easy way out for sure. When they offered me half of what I thought was fair for my older car, I knew this would be a struggle. I think what annoys me the most is after I said I wasn't buying a car with thousands of dollars of extra unwanted equipment on it, the sales mgr sends me quotes back on an over equipped car and asks "your thoughts?". Well, he probably doesn't want to know exactly what I'm thinking because it's not complimentary... And almost 900 bucks a month to lease a compact Q5 is utterly nuts. I didn't get any residual info, have no idea where he came up with that number. My first home mortgage was less than that...

Car dealers, no matter the veneer of respectability, are still miserable to deal with. Only exception was buying my Subaru; they seemed to make it easy...of course the car I bought was fully equipped and without options and no hoops to jump through. After the numbers I was given yesterday, my Outback is looking better all the time. But I do need something bigger and more comfortable to drive West this Fall.

Since I only got as far as Jackson MS in my aborted motorhome trip....remember that? but I'm going to drive it in a comfortable car and stay at hotels. California here I come. Physically I could not do this without some kind of driving aid, so my focus is on Cadillac's Super Cruise, which no one else has, but they put the gizmo in their most expensive loaded car, natch, which makes it unaffordable. I want Super Cruise in a 50k compact SUV.... this is why I may not buy a car any more and just lease. Tech is going to drive our cars more and more.
Which is why we all need a 1967 Camaro RS with a 327 and a four speed in our garage.

All I can say is you are the Man. 99 percent of us could not do what you just did.
So I guess this means Gloria has an In-y instead of an Out-y? TMI....

Sixteen years from Andrew can have a wonderful conversation with his teenage daughter about her belly button adventures.
"Dad, I can't believe you told them that"....:D

Poured second cup of coffee. 13° with spotty clouds. Heading to 40° with partly cloudy skies. I had putting snow shovels and bucket of ice melting salt away in barn today. But have put it on hold for a couple of days. Looks like we might get some of that white stuff tomorrow. Found sharpening of Stihl pole saw chains still on list of things to do. Will get that done today in anticipation of spring finally arriving later this week. Then maybe about an hour of NASCAR.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

Just got an e-mail from an FFL who had one of my SA revolvers on consignment....got sold yesterday.
The gun is a Ruger New Vaquero in .357 Magnum Caliber...5.5" barrel with faux-case hardening finish (which hasn't been available for a few years). I'd purchased a New Vaquero (4" barrel) in stainless steel and bird's head grips several months ago, so I didn't want to keep the 5.5" model.
So, since I have the money, I ordered a Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite with a threaded barrel. I expect it'll be here by next weekend. I'll post pictures when I get it in

This is a stock picture, but this is what a New Vaquero with bird's head grips looks like. Mine is identical

Ever think about an SUV rather than a sedan? More room, and they're pretty comfortable. Of course, I'm a truck guy, so my concept of comfort probably differs from yours, Drew.

Your "older car"...is that the Jaguar sedan? I'd written a post a while back (in this forum)...used Jags are comparatively hard to sell. Their reliability has never been outstanding and folks know it.....beautiful cars though... I'm not surprised the dealer is trying to lowball the value. He probably knows it'll be setting on his lot for a while.
