life with a B2650

last week i tried and failed to buy a 48" single lid grapple at auction, then i tried to buy a 66" single lid and i was going to cut it down to 50" failed at that too. so today I used the 74" 700+ grapple for a little clean up. it is way too big for the little B2650, though it worked.

The 55" EA Wicked grapple is 209lbs. grapple 2.jpg

LOL, yes a 700 lb Grapple wouldn't leave you much lifting force at all to do any work. I'm planning to go one of 2 ways, EA grapple that is around 300 lbs as a first choice, or one of the grapple as on deals that installs to your bucket. The second choice is around 300 lbs on top of the weight of your factory 60" bucket, but can be done for $900-ish versus the EA grapple for around $1800.

it did what i needed it to do, pick up sticks i had thrown into piles after some of the storms, didn't weight much and didn't lift it very high and push some pine needles i raked up into the woods

i won't spend 900 on a grapple for this let alone 1800. hence why i'm using the one i have in stock. still looking for a smaller one though

I was thinking maybe going with pallet forks and grapple? I have lots of brush to clean up and started to do some logging by the house so bucket isn't very useful moving large logs around. Although with the new chains and spacers I was able to pull some large green logs out into the field.

there is a whole thread debating the pros and cons of many grapple types. sawyer rob sure loves his pallet forks with a grapple lid. for my uses they wouldn't work very well. would i like a set yes, would i use them, probably not much except as regular forks. if you want my opinion on grapples i will gladly give it to you

Picked up my new B2650 at end of August with a mid-mount mower deck. Still don't have the FEL mounted, but hope the dealer will get it all together by mid November. I primarily used it for mowing the acreage. It mows really well. I haven't removed the deck yet for the winter, which has always been my norm for the last 30 years with my old Boomer. It will take a little while to make it mine. I have removed the tiny tool box and replaced it with a 50cal. Ammo box. the factory box would hold a pair of gloves, and a few small little items, not near enough space for the minimal amount of things one should carry out onto the property.

Is the MMM deck terrain following with 4 castering gage wheels? I am shopping for a B3350 and will not buy a suspended deck.

Also, does the FEL frame interfere with the MMM and/or does it limit how high the MMM can be lifted? It would be nice if the MMM can be lifted highly enough so that the tractor can be used for other purposes without high centering the MMM.

Just picked up a B2650 today. Open station, FEL, SSQA, 60" bucket, Turf tires, One rear remote, quick hitch. Bought it from Burke Equipment in DE for 18600. I thought this was a pretty good deal. I was looking to replace John Deere 750 2wd, gear, no loader, no power steering, without go larger in size, I was also looking for a bit more HP.

This will be a thread for everyone to see what life with a small compact is like, or at least mine. I will post what I do with it and when I do them, both for the knowledge of the forum and it may help me remember when/how I did things.

Picked it up today around noon with .5 hrs, brought it out to the farm to pick up the rake, dad asked me rake the lane did that, then brought it home. tomorrow rake my driveway swap to the rear mount mower and then take the JD back to town. We're upto 1.3 hours now.

Need to do a couple things add hooks and 2" receiver to the bucket, receiver will require a bit of fabrication. I would like to widen the front track, don't know if I can flip the front wheels to do that or not. I will find out. The remote is kinda ugly looking, but I haven't found a way to make it better looking/protected. However it does give e nice place to lean against.

Pics to come tomorrow when it's not dark.

Can Kubota front weights be attached to the grill guard? If so, how many?

If not, can the front weight bracket be mounted simultaneously with the grill guard or must the grill guard be removed to mount the weight bracket?

weights can't be attached to the grill guard. can they be mounted under it, maybe. is there a weight bracket i don't know. if you need front weight you can always use the FEL

Not to hi jack the thread.. but you guys with 2650s what position is the front grill guard mounted? Mine is mounted way out in front of the tractor but it looks like there is another set of holes so it could be mounted a little closer.

couple days ago used the JD to load the mower on the trailer to bring home. it is getting close to grass cutting time. it's so much nicer having a FEL to unload vs the way i used to do it, either take the tractor to town to swap implements, bring the car trailer home with the implement on it and hook it up while on the trailer, or put the implement on a little utility trailer and use a come along and a stiff branch to unload it

Today I helped a neighbor do some clean up. couple weeks ago storms came through, blew over a live loblolly pine over which took out at least 2 dead trees.

starting by taking the rounds (he had already cut them i would have cut them in 8-10 ft sections and moved them with the forks) and loading them in the bucket and dumping them close to the road so he can load them up.

then put on the forks and starting hauling 8-12 ft sections out.

IMG_1480.JPG

dragged some with a chain out where i could get them with the forks

IMG_1481.JPG

wound up with 3 piles for a total of 12 sections and then the pile of rounds
