Waiting for "safety police" to go apoplectic over your grinder. Nice project, good luck w/ restoration. When finished, schedule a tractor pull w/ the Kubota.

EDIT: spoke too soon, here they come, to quote a prominent member, "WHAP, WHAP".

It took so long to cut that a spider built a web on his elbow!!! :)
You got luck to have a shoulder on those ball joint ends.
Makes it a lot easier to line back up.

You do good work...

Did you know anyone in the Hydraulic business before taking on this project?

So many of the places I used restoring antique cars are no more in my part of the SF Bay Area... the old guys had no one to take over the business.
Thank you. :) No prior hydraulic experience here! I'm learning as I go. :/ Bay Hydraulics in Santa Clara has been a great resource. They have proven to be very helpful, same for KMD Machine, also in Santa Clara.

That cutting disk should be replaced with a soft buffing wheel so it won't accidentally cut something.

Lol thanks! That's my brother in law right there, he's the welder/ grinder. Lol. His philosophy is "if we can't screw it up, no one can!"

That is pretty dangerous. Those cut off wheels are prone to exploding. I use the Lenox steel disk diamond edge cut off wheels. They’re well worth the $15 imo.
I will look into getting one of those. They sound like they would work nicely. I know Lowe's sells a lot of Lenox products. Maybe they'll have some there.

Excellent work and dedication to problem solving all the pitfalls of a project like yours.
I have one suggestion for future projects: Instead of using zip ties for electrical wiring harness staging I find the velcro wrap ties work well for me on any wiring project, and there are no razor sharp cuts when one snags the cut off end with one's hand. AND, they allow for repositioning, reuse and the addition of more or reduction of less wires as needed. And one can do the tape-over thing like you did instead of using the wire loom plastic sheathing to cover/consolidate and look professional too In some long run areas you could also use the same braided sheathing that is used to protect hydraulic lines from abrasion. It comes in different diameters and lengths from the hydraulics 'stores'.

And one other thought would be to spray Kroil down each cylinder before even trying to crank an old unknown condition engine over. Shoot some down the spark plug holes and let 'er sit a few days, then crank it over. If somethings stuck it could make the difference between a ring breaking or scoring a cylinder.

Now go get that other field gem-you know you want to, and start on it too!

Oh, yeah, I'd put some real cloth breathable covers over your other restoration projects - otherwise trapped moisture can do much damage to all kinds of surfaces inside and out - JMHO.

Also, you may not consider yourself a mechanic- but I would have hired you to work in my shop anyday! ( previously owned and ran foreign auto repair and sales shop for over ten years- then sold it).
Thank you for the compliment and suggestions! All sound ideas!

Yea we were kinda guessing on which end to cut! We lucked out! ;)

It feels good to actually bolt parts onto the tractor! Long time coming!

I have to get a couple more fittings tomorrow so I can finish flaring the lines on the other side. I should have it up and running again tomorrow!

You can see the upper steering rod is bent in the second picture. I might have some made for both sides, or make them depending on how I feel. :/

That’s where I got the first one I have. Amazon also has them.

I've straightened many steering rods like that. Flat surface and a hammer.
Congratulations on your beautiful workmanship on that tractor.

Place rod on a blocks of wood and hit block of wood on top with hammer to straighten it so you don't kink or damage it.

Agreed. That is the correct way.

Seeing you have someone that can weld like that nearby get some safety chains welded onto that trailer of yours. :D

All kidding aside, it's looking great. Now how the heck does that power steering work?

It works really good! No leaks anywhere. I am pleased with how it came out. I was able to drive around finally. I can't wait to put this tractor to work.

I'll put the hood on. I'd like to find the correct grill, they are very hard to find. Maybe I'll make a bracket and hang some suitcase weights off the front. I still have to put the drawbar on. At least I can park it on my new slab and not work in the dirt!!
