New XR4155HC on its way!

I've got an LS XR4155HC that I bought in the fall of 2017 and the main driver for me going down the LS path was really the amount of tractor for the money. I've got about 155 hours on so far with a wide variety of usage - moving round bales, moving a lot of dirt with the FEL, moving snow with the FEL, mowing with a finishing mower, running a box blade, running a landscape rake, and pulling a disc. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase, with LS it seems like you can go up a frame size and add a cab for about the same money as a smaller open platform Kubota.

Overall pluses:

- The cab is great for working dry ground in the summer (AC is awesome!!) and winter plowing (cab keeps me too warm!!)
- I love the HST - it's an awesome feature that helps this tractor act more like a skid steer or lawn more when needed. It's especially handy for fine work unloading trailers vs. a gear drive tractor.
- The larger frame size helps move more material (dirt, rocks, snow, bales) faster considering it's still a "small" tractor. I couldn't imagine trying to move round bales with a smaller tractor...
- 2 sets or rear remotes stock is awesome for top/tilt applications or running a low usage grapple setup.
- 4wd is a must in my mind for the tractor size and what I use it for
- My dealer swung me a bunch of extras - fluid filled tires, free equipment rentals, etc.
- Regen hasn't been an issue at all. Seems like it happens every 50 hours like I was told it would, and it has had zero effect on my usage during that time

Overall minuses:

- While my tractor paint looks great I've got some rust spots on the loader welds and have I've blasted off some weak adhesion on the cylinder rod ends while washing it with my pressure washer. I bought some touch up paint and am not overly concerned, but not ideal for something so new....
- I'm still working on using the vents to keep the glass from fogging while I clear my driveway in the winter. It's not bad at all when my tractor sits in my heated shop, but if it's sitting outside for the day it seems like I have more interior fogging than I'd like.
- I feel like the loader is too slow when trying to run 2 motions at the same time, say lift and curl. I know Kubota advertising on YouTube talks down the New Holland (LS) tractor on this. That said, I don't really "make money" with my tractor so while I feel it's slower than I'd like it still gets the job done and cost way less than the "faster" Kubota setup.

Nate, I traded in my 3YO, 500 hour, XR4046HC in November 2017 for a new XR4155HC. I and my dealer had been pressing LS for 3rd remote kit for the XR4046HC from time I bought it. I installed Fit-Rite hydraulic top and side links when I bought it. I had LandPride 96” rear blade with hydraulic angle cylinder. It was a PIA to have to use one of my 2 remotes for angle and lose top or tilt.

My XR4155HC came with 3 rear remotes. It also has linkage to raise lower the 3-point from rear of tractor. That is handier then you’ll ever believe.

The 3-point is also CAT2 and the telescoping 3-point stabilizers are much improved over the previous stabilizers. The 3-point still works fine with my CAT1 implements. Bought a handful of CAT1 to CAT2 adapter bushings at TSC.

The extra HP and PTO HP is also much appreciated.

Had our XR4155HC for a couple of weeks now-really like the machine, particularly the creature comforts associated with a cab (heat in am,AC in afternoon, stereo)-still getting use to HST having come from a gear/hydro shuttle Case backhoe background.

I certainly don’t think you’ll go wrong with the LS.

I went with the R4's and fluid filled the rears. Overall I feel that was the best choice for my tractor usage and I would make the same decision today

- I use my tractor for running a finish mower quite often and have done lot of landscape type work around the yard so I didn't want to tear things up like a figured I would do with the R1's.

- I was pleasantly surprised how well they worked moving snow around this winter. Obviously I could get the tires to spin if I tried to push large piles or on the icy spots of my gravel driveway late season (freeze/thaw) but I didn't feel that I absolutely needed chains to get the job done.

- I've done a lot of loader work moving around dirt as well. You can get a pretty good stab into a pile in mid-range (HST trasmission) but if I was trying to get a full scoop into some hard stuff I'd go into low range now and then. Once again, if I tried in low range I could get the tires to spin but that wasn't the norm.

- I've had zero issues pulling around an old 10-12 ft. disc


All that said, if I was going to use my tractor for a majority of more "farm" related work (like pulling ground breaking implements, etc.) I probably would have went with the R1's for best traction.

Something I find interesting is how different these tractors look in pictures depending on what angle the picture is taken from. On a front corner shot like my profile pic the tractor looks quite large! On a side pic or one from a rear corner the same tractor looks like a much smaller!

I agree. My wife was really surprised when it showed up too. From our conversations, she thought it was going to be substantially larger than the JD 1520 it is replacing. When they are side by side it becomes really evident that the LS isn't really a "big" tractor!
