Can my M7060 pull this disc sufficiently?

You will pull that in H1 and not break a sweat. That disk was made for a 40 HP or less 2wd.

That disk will not turn that field into anything other than a chopped up mess of grass and torn sod.

I pull an old 24 plate drag disk over a few acres every year with the M7040SU....moldboard plow first!

I want to thank everyone for the advice. I arrived and hooked up this morning at 8 am. About 1/4 of the way through, I ended up putting a 100 pound weight on each axle, so 400 extra pounds. That really made it settle down and pull nice. Like mentioned, it was bouncing around at first, the weights helped a lot!

I was able to pull in Low gear, 6th speed, traveling at 5.5 MPH. I finished and was loaded up at 1:30, 5&1/2 hours total. I think it was more like 8 or 9 acres. Definitely larger than 7!

The goal here was to get the weeds down. I only made one pass, I didn't cris cross. I overlapped my tracks by half.

I know it's not as nice as some of you are used to, but you are welcome to critique my work.

I think you succeeded in your task. I think you are going to need to do it again in a few weeks as soon as the grass starts turning brown.

It’s nice and green there. I would kill a hobo if it would make my pastures that green.

I'm not criticizing your work as you were doing what was asked, but I wonder why they wanted the whole thing done instead of just going around the outside for a fire break? I see that a lot in California grasslands.

You did an astoundingly good job considering what you had to work with. I figured you would have a mess of half standing grass and half just bent over. I'd say your success comes from life experience, horse sense and adaptability to make do with what you have. Most operators would have given up after a half hour.

I agree. Native grass areas are a real benefit to small critters which provide food for large critters. On our hunting lease we manage grass areas and protect them. We control burn every 3-4 years.

Nice work.

Glad my predictions were wrong!

Your results are better than I expected, and the extra 400lb on the disk seems to have made all the difference.

I guess this is useful for fire-prevention purposes, and I imagine you can see why those of us focused on tillage said it wasn't going to do that well.
