It is very competitive, which is good if you're buying. I found the same thing recently while car shopping. Sales are down. The economy is not as strong as some think. I went with a different car brand this time. Also the local dealer would not budge when i came in with better prices, and then sent me an email asking why i didnt buy from them. I thought it was obvious, i had a $600 better offer from another dealer in the area.

Once the pent up demand is satisfied the market returns more towards "Normal" at least with vehicle sales.

Tractors are different things to different people... often it is a couple buying the SCUT and that alone can be difficult because SCUT are a significant outlay...

Still remember one poor older man shopping at Sears with his wife... he stopped at the Craftsman Father's Day Screwdriver assortment and his wife belted out what are you doing... he said I sure could use this set and it is 50% off... his wife said put it down... you already have a screw driver!

I sure did feel sorry for guy... when they were at the register he was the one paying... so I doubt he was simple minded....

Anyway... buying a tractor could be a thousand times worse...

With most things it lies in the presentation....

When it comes to tractors I'm sure geography plays a big part and it did for me... there were NO dealers in my county and several adjacent counties... not a single one and we have a population in the millions...

Now up in Washington State there are plenty to choose from and they do advertise which is nice... all the Dealers do up there in my area.

Ultra, who is your Kubota dealer of choice in WA? I have been using Jennings in Puyallup. They are very service oriented, especially since they brought in a professional Service Manager. John is still their shop Foreman and he recognized he was not that manager type and him and the SM make a good team. Their sales team always give me at least 10% off on everything I buy.

My machine purchases have been in California...

In Washington I use J & I which is also my Stihl Dealer

I had tried to buy from Kitsap and they would not quote me a price as I am not a Washington resident yet I was buying for my home in Washington??? contacted Kubota and was told Dealers have the right to no sell outside their territory???

This was about 3 years ago...

The irony is my excavator contractor friend bought a used excavator from Kitsap for his business in Santa Cruz CA and when I asked the Dealer said they do no restrict used equipment sales???

... the newest ads also feature that you get a free 54 inch mower deck with the purchase of a new Kubota BX product.

this is news to me, as I plan on buying the BX23S shortly. Is that a USA promotion, or does it apply in Canada also ?

Kubota has got to where it is by taking nothing for granted and fighting for every dollar they earn and product they sell. They fought to the top and I'll bet they are there for many more decades because of their sheer determination and true grit that is so often lacking in most other companies. Kubota is the elephant in the room and is just getting going.

Any sales manager will tell you to hire the high school grad with a lust for the product they sell and a 24/7 work schedule and tell the entitled MBA to take a hike.

Just my personal opinion here.

Interesting thread here...... I think the other threads that do some direct comparisons are an important point. Mechanically there are quite a few solid choices and the biggest point I took away from the direct comparisons was that dealer matters....a lot. If there's no dealer near you for a certain brand, then that adds to the cost and
enjoyment factors of owning that brand. I happen to live in a town where there is a Kubota, JD and Massey dealer within about 6 miles of each other and all about 25 minutes from my house. The Massey dealer is a smaller family owned business but very solid nevertheless and they have been in business since the 50's. All the competition is good for us. I happen to have went with the GC1710 and I'm very happy with it. I'm totally sure I would have been as happy with a BX25 or 1025R. The GC1710 was $15,900 and with the cost delta I got a trailer, bush hog and post hole digger. There are certainly more aftermarket accessories for the Kubota and JD, but looks like the MF is catching on. This small dealer is working with someone local to make an 8 inch bucket from a 10 inch bucket which I wanted for a lot of trenching and the price will be less than I expected assuming we like the finished product. The main point is.....competition is good for us buyers and will likely get more intense due to the quality of the machines. IMHO

Was hoping for something substantial to back the claim, a little stronger than kubota is offering a free mower deck, and kubota has increased their warrantee, so the sky must be falling.
Just googled, and found an article that said the entire scut market sales have declined in 2017 and 2018. Not surprising that dealers are doing what they can to make sales, it's how business works.

If you are so inclined, here is just one in a rather long list similar posts by the same person with feed bac and info by others: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...346727-kubota-bx-vs-my-massey.html?highlight=
