I tried to figure that out but those are Echo part numbers and I can't find a way to cross over. I learned there is a Shindaiwa dealer not all that far away so I apparently can get what I will need.

Echo bought Shindaiwa. If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.

A little bit of progress here. The blower is a little back-burnered because of other tasks I have getting machinery ready, etc but I did read the owner's manual last night and learned a couple things. The instructions in using the primer bulb is to pump it until no bubbles appeared in the clear tubing line. I had only been pumping it a few times.

So, I set out to pump until the bubbles disappeared but they never fully went away. After about 12 pumps on the primer bulb I tried to start and it started on the third pull. Normally this would be six or more pulls. So, I'm thinking there is an issue with the primer bulb and I'm going to replace that after I get the part. It might take a few days because of work load but I will get it done and report back. Thanks for all the help on this. I hate to admit it but these little engines scare me.

I'm also going to change the plug and use the right gas-oil mix.

Ok, here's the answer and it was a combination of things. First of all, the fuel filter was likely good since after I replaced it, nothing changed. As noted, I use 100% real gas and run dry when done.

That aside, I had the primer bulb replaced. Someone suggested it plus I never saw the bubbles stop as I kept pumping. I think it was that bulb. Now, at the same time I changed the fuel-oil mix so I don't know what played the greater part. I think it was the primer bulb and that's where I would look if this happens to you.

Thank you everyone on educating me and fixing the problem. The Shindaiwa--now owned by Echo is a great motor and I'm happy with it. I figure Echo must also be pretty good since it looks like they are using their technology. Smart move I think.

Glad you finally found the problem, but assuming the fuel filter was good based on the no change after changing it is not necessarily the case. There are two filters, standard and hi-flow. If you didn't even know there was a in tank filter, had never changed it, and used to run other then non E-10 it needed changing. I believe you described it as being moldy or some such description. And the tune up kits come with a filter for exactly the reason of giving full flow of fresh gas of whatever type one uses. You don't want to change it in future- its your machine, do what suits you. I change my weedeater (Echos, and a split boom Shindawa Powerbroom, with Echo head unit), chainsaws, (7 qty Stihl) prior to each new season of use as added carb protection.

Coyote--I always want to change filters and am OCD about it. It just never occurred to me up till that point but I will be changing in the future. Never met a filter I didn't want to change.

What does not make a lot of sense - everybody says use non-alcohol gas. Ever since all our gas around here went to ethanol gas - that's all I've ever used. I put Stabil in all my 2-cycle/4-cycle gas and have NEVER had a moments problems that were related to fuel. I just wonder if we get a better "grade" of gas around here - we sure as H-E-L-L should be - yesterday's regular is $3.01/gallon. Supreme - $3.21/gallon.

$3.99 premium here this week... guess no one wants to be the first over $4
