Mowing Kubota B2650 not enough power for FDR2572 mower?

An option might be to purchase a 2nd set of rear wheels/tires that are not filled and keep them on, switching to filled tires when you are doing ground engaging work. You could even consider turf tread and not tear up the ground as much. The fill basically weighs as much as the loader. I bet with those 2 changes you could carry mid range at speed up the hill. Just a thought, good luck.....

Good news.... It is preferable to mow without the loader in my opinion anyway. A lot less room required when around trees and a whole lot better visibility.

See if you can borrow a smaller finish mower or rent one from a neighbor, etc... just to see how that goes.

I'll be trading up to a 3560 or better in the near future. I've learned the hard way that the 2650 isn't powerful enough for my needs. My old man had a 29 horse kubota that he used a mid mount mower to cut the grass (about 5 acres hilly terrain). We sold that off and got a 51' zero turn (scag) it cuts the grass in a third of the time. In my situation I would never use a tractor to mow grass. I'll save it for heavy work only. I even got the snow plow and snowblower too, for the 2650 but I found it to be just too slow. Other guys have said it, but I never fully understood being this is my first tractor purchase. Go bigger if you can. For me, the only reason I didn't was because bigger wont fit in my garage. I've decided to modify my garage doors to make ample room for the step up. Nice videos btw. I would recommend a MAC and iMovie for video editing. Easy stuff. I downgraded from 3350 to 2650 initially due to regen problems. That was a big mistake. I should have just went up. C'est la vie!

Note that I'm at 60.5" rear width WITH the kubota 1.5" wheel spacers added, so 57.5" with the optional tires and no spacers. I believe it's 54" with no spacers and the standard R4 tires.

Thanks, again RC.

Today, I went back to my dealer and changed to the optional R-4 tire package.

I also added a third function valve and 72" front skid steer mounted hydraulic angle blade with rubber cutting edge.

This thing is getting expensive but I just couldn't help myself.

While there I saw a B series 72" MMM with mostly cosmetic shipping damage still on the shipping cradle. I was told that a replacement had already been ordered for the B2650 buyer that purchased it. I told my dealer that if Kubota wanted to sell the damaged mower that I might be interested at a large discount. Dealer said that he would contact Kubota and get back with me.

Of course, I will need to buy a full set of turf tires/rims at about $1,250 if this happens.

Help me. I'm addicted. Is there a Kubota Tractors Anonymous chapter in the mid-west?

If you opt out of that mower, let me know what the deal offered to you is. I may be interested... I'd like to get one to see if I could reshape it enough to make it fit with my tires. The thought of swapping around 500 pound tires is not at all appealing to me. I have around 400 lb of Rim Gard, plus the weight of the tire that is (guessing) around 100 lbs and the weight of the wheel that has to be 50+ lbs. My 37x13.50 Jeep wheels and tires are around 120 lbs each and I don't overly enjoy rotating those...

bigger wheels and tires

That explains why your low range looks so fast! Way faster than the tractors I have owned. I think you need smaller wheels and tires. Maybe the stock set. That's probably cheaper than re-gearing it. Maybe there's lower front and rear final drive gears from the 3350. OK, I posted that before I read all the replies and it sounds like you got different tires already? Stock size? Did that help?

Also you need to back off the HST pedal earlier. You do back off but only when you're close to stalling. You're still treating it more like a throttle than a transmission actuator. Maybe that was just for the video to show the problem but that's what I have to go on.

Correct, I'm exaggerating it to show that the engine will get sucked down, and I also tried to shift the camera to the tires to show that it's barely moving, like walking speed or less. My dreams were to be able to more in low range at around 6 mph, but it looks like low range and 3-4 mph are more realistic.

Go back to the stock tires and take off the loader and that could be the simplest fix.
