Mowing Kubota B2650 not enough power for FDR2572 mower?

LOL, I love my little 26hp garden tractor though. I dread it's demise, with about 600 hours on it... I'm not sure how much life is left in the Kohler Courage it in the Hydro Gear G730 transmission. I have run Amsoil in the Kohler since new, so I hope that the oil adds time to the EPA class C (500 hour) engine, and I change the HST filter and use Cub Cadet branded HST every 200-ish hours. So I'm really wanting to see 1000 hours from this thing! But it cuts fast, nearly home owner zero turn speeds being 6.5 mph. I average over 5 moving mph over the 5.7 miles that run it cutting the yard. View attachment 550924View attachment 550927

The stickers make your garden tractor faster. Superchips sticker is great!

The backhoe subframe does not prevent you from having a mid Mount mower, the oversized tires do. If I had to get rid of the oversized tires, I would rather get rid of the tractor. What I'll likely do is just buy another garden tractor with a 54 inch deck and cut with that if this won't work. But I'm starting to think that this is going to work out okay with the front loader removed, so I don't think it's going to be a big issue.

I agree, give your B2650 a chance with what you now know. Great looking and capable machine. Over thinking can cost you money and time. Get her a chance with maybe some modifications on the patterns that you mow. Not the end of the world. Remember, tractors are fun....

It looks to me what you have works ok. Maybe your expectations were to high? I have a steep hill I mow with my BX and I know I don’t go very fast on it, not because I can’t, it just to scary to go much faster, but my hill is much shorter in length.

One tip I might have on technique. It looks like if you went a little further up the hill it’s flatter and would turn better up top.

I’d love to have your rig, it’s really nice.

Nice mower - keep it, and use your new B2650 to do the serious work you bought it for!

Don't forget the Rancho lift kit stickers

Back in the day, we all knew that an STP sticker in the window was good for .2 or .3 seconds in ET and about 5 MPH trap speed.

An update to the situation for you all who may have interest...

Kubota B2650 with LP FDR2572 mower part 2 - YouTube

Just viewed your later video.

Significant improvement. Still, you are going to be power limited when the grass starts growing. A 60" mower would be a better match, though I understand why you could not pass up the deal you found on your 72".

You can use your turning brakes to assist steering when the front end is light and the tractor will not turn. Rather than the B3350 that I bought recently, I would have bought an L3901 had it had steering brakes on the opposite side from the hydro pedal (and armrests). Steering brakes are just about useless on a hydro tractor when on the same side as the hydro pedal.

I completely agree on the brakes, they have to be in the left foot. That fact knocked a LOT of other brands and models off of my list of potential purchases and is one thing that put the B2650 in my short list.
