It may be time to take the Cummins in for service (injectors and injection pump), it should have handled that load a little easier.

Truck weight 6000 pounds
Trailer weight 6000 pounds
Tractor/ballast box 10,000 pounds
chains, binders, fuel, all fluids, me/wife, some other crap in the back of the truck. maybe 1500 pounds all together.

That's 23500 pounds. The climb I was going up had up to 7% grades for 10-13 miles. I do not know my gear ratio's off hand but I believe they are taller that low. I think the truck did OK. When I go sledding with my 18' enclosed trailer and two sleds I can pull any hill and maintain 65 mph no problem. I will add on level ground I was going 70 mph with the cruise on just fine.

I do know a very good diesel mechanic and I'll talk to him about it though.:thumbsup:

I know that water can be hard to get in places up there,
I'm going to suggest something that will get some people talking have you
considered having a water dowser out to try and find the best place to drill for
water, some people don't believe in them and while I wouldn't put them at 100%
I have seen them right to many times to discount them.

I have not talked to a driller yet; but, Bear Lake is only 3 miles from my place. It's big and deep. Water in the valley where I'm at will be no problem. Just poke a hole in the ground and you'll hit water.

Over the last month or so your truck has proved itself to be reliable and capable!!!

Flatlanders struggle to understand the conditions you described above.

I did not add that even if I could have got to 45 MPH it would not have really mattered. The road is winding and twisting the speed limit on some turns is only 35 MPH. In a car or the Harley I could go faster on those turns but with a tractor up on the trailer and my center of gravity being high I didn't want to take any chances.

Making another run today and taking my Harley up tomorrow after church. While up there today I will install my mailbox. That way I'll only have to change my address one time.

On a different note I tried to fill some prescriptions yesterday. The Pharmacist told me I was " not a covered person". I called HR at work and found out some ****** down in San Antonio (corporate headquarters) listed me as "terminated" not "retired". I have been having to many problems getting my Fidelity account and Pension checks started. Now I know why. My local HR was very apologetic and said he would take care of it. I suggested the only way to make it up to me was to give me an additional 100 bucks a month for life. He laughed and said he was going to suggest it to corporate.

I distinctly remember the first six months. Three months prior and three months after my official retirement date. It stressed me a LOT. It all worked out. I sure was pessimistic about it. I am confident yours will work out too.

Funny thing about the pictures of the new place. I have taken my camera on 2 or 3 of the trips and forget to take any pictures. I can only promise they will come, and I bet it's before my first pension check !!! :smiley_aafz:

No worries, no offense taken, I have only hauled to 9,000' but did not have many turns that reduced my speed.
