Pros and Cons of Kioti

/ Pros and Cons of Kioti #41
I know nobody wants to say they bought a POS. I'm looking at Kioti DK5010 and would like to know what you like or dislike about the tractor. Is it exceptionally strong or weak in any areas?

I have had my DK5010H-Shuttle for 2 months, so it is still really new to me and I'm still learning it compared to my dad's Belarus 250AS. I can tell you it is not a POS. But I can't in good conscience say that I have used it enough to find any huge weaknesses or exceptional strengths. It performs exactly as I expected it, I do not expect it will wow anyone with minimal niceties. It has just enough conveniences to make it a tractor you work and not one that works you.

Strengths: Lot's of PTO HP for engine HP, Cost, (some may call me crazy) I feel its engineering is compatible with deere and kubota, and I'm happy with maneuverability and machine weight with the loader.

Weakness: I wish my R4 tires would have been 17.5 wide like comes on the Kubota 4701 and others rather than the 14.9 width on the DK5010 (A minor inconvenience for me so far)

It's worth noting, I added a deck mat for around $165.

TooRoo, do you think you can get it from dealer with 17.5 tires? One of my concerns is it's width is about 6" less than other rigs. Doesn't seem like mutch but I have uneven ground. And my wife will tell ya, an 1" is everything!

The only loader I ever broke was a JD. I wont bad mouth it because I knew I overstressed it a lot long before it actually broke and when it finally did it wasn't during hard use and seemed out of line with what one would think could break it. A dealer not paying warrantee or helping to fix a loader that has been used with grapple on it pulling, pushing and prying roots doesn't make them bad but rather shows they understand that the machine may well have been pushed beyond its limits any number of times and was probably already broke before it finally gave up during some lighter duty.

Now this is just my guess at things but I would be hard pressed to believe that it wasn't previously overstressed with both side to side load and pushing pulling beyond its limits.

This makes me wonder how one would react now if they had purchased the green one and had the same problem, what would they then blame it on?

That's why I was upset. If I can find it I will post a picture. You will see what I mean it was a little pile. I think the second one snapped because all the weight went to the one side. What was crazy was they both snapped at the same place on the shaft. It wasn't like one was higher or lower on the shaft, they were both snapped in the exact same place.
Still waiting on those pics ? Love to see them..

I enquired about the wider tire from the dealership, but would have come out of pocket for the new tire and it seemed I was going to need a new rim also, with no trade in on the original rims and tires. I elected not to pursue it any further.

As far as uneven ground is concerned I would consider weighting your tires.

Many of these tire rim combinations can simply be bolted on in another way, with different offset to widen the stance. I too highly recommend having tires filled.

Filling tires is your cheapest option. I could not go without the extra weight of filled tires.

Regarding traction, have a DK5010. Found it to be a beast pushing snow with the loader with loaded R1 tires and a 750lb snowblower on the back. Combo of weight, R1's, and HP. Low hours but no problems with it.

Dk35vince I had a small pile of brush. I went to grapple and then I seen hydro oil blowing out. Got out to look and seen the shaft broke and fell out of the cylinder. Then I got back into machine and went to try and move the loader down and the other shaft broke and fell out and the grappler came crashing down. It was a$1000 bill to replace both with no help from dealer or kioti. Sad is the dealer and kioti both admitted they have never seen that. I had the pictures on my old cell. If I can find them I will post them
Got them pics yet? H,mm?

I know that on the CK series this is only true for the R1 Agriculture Tires/Rims. The R4's and Turf tires have a one piece wheel that is not reversible. The R1's have a 2 piece wheel (rim and offset center) that can be adjusted. We had the dealer set ours to the widest width & fill them prior to delivery.

I'm 100% in agreement with the others who have said go with Ag tires & have them filled. I live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains so I'm pretty familiar with having "little hills".

I have a CK4010. I know it's not a DK but to chime in on Kioti the brand, I have been very happy. I have had it for only about 2 years and the only problems I have had with it were self induced and doing things I shouldn't. I think that most folks that are not brand blind and know a thing or two about tractors feel that Kioti is a great brand. There are no glaring trends with maintenance just occasional issues that are even sometimes operator induced (although some owners are reluctant to admit it). Even though the dealer network is not as large as JD or Kubota, it is still a large network. Kioti, like Kubota builds all components on their tractors (with the exception of the largest class of tractors). I hope that this helps.

I have own my Kioti CK 30 hst for 5 years now and no issues at all with it. I blow snow in the winter and some landscaping around the estate and it is a great working little machine. My dealer is about 35 min from me and they are great at responding if needed. I am waiting on a comfort cab to arrive at my dealer so I will have some heat for next winter. Life is good with a Kioti.

Why? for the weight of the tractor 14.9 is much better...better ground pressure, for traction, 17.5 used to come on full size 580 backhoes weighing 12 to 14k

I've had my DK35 for 13 years and have been very happy. Used it with backhoe, tiller, box blade, and loader. Has done everything I've wanted it to do! Definitely built tough and is not a POS.

I use to think those extendable 3-point arm ends were silly. That's until I got my M6040 and implements like my Rhino 950 - a 1050 pound rear blade. Or my 770 pound Wallenstein BX62S chipper. Or Land Pride GS2584 - LPGS @ 800 pounds. IMHO - any tractor that is Category 2 capable should have extendable 3-point arm ends.

I am coming up on 6 years with my CK27hst with loader and cab. I am more than pleased with this tractor, so far. I bought it with the loader and a front mount snow blower. Last spring I got the backhoe. Mine has R4s and tire chains, but I do have mostly flat ground.
My only regret (and that is all my fault) is that I didn't go for the DK series with heat AND air conditioning.
The doors are removable on the cab and the windows do open. Kioti recommends that you NOT open the front window if you are using the loader, but mine will open to the widest setting and the loader doesn't come close to the window.

My dealer is 2 hours south of me, but the next closest dealer is 2 hours North West and he wouldn't deliver.

Forgive me, but can you provide more information on that? I do not understand how a 2.6" increase in tire (traction) width is worse for the weight. You cited better ground pressure, but soil condition would have a direct impact on whether that is a good or bad.

Soft and wet ground would work against a more centralized contact pad.

On dryer ground would a larger pad be a bad thing?

This is my first tractor with industrial tires and the only other real experience I have with a similar although much larger tire is with off road fork lifts. Furthermore, my only real tractor experience has been with Ag tires.

You refer to the 2.6 inches as traction....on a tractor the size of yours, I would call it flotation.

Really appreciate everyone's input. The Kioti seems like a great tractor. However we chose to go with a different brand.
