That's how I bath my shepherd. I just get her worn out chasing the garden hose first. Go out in a bathing suit and pretty much expect to get soaked. She has fun first, then is too worn out to fight the bath. Wife and I figured out fast, it's much easier in the kiddie pool.

We used to bath her in the tub. That took two people and was the equivalent of wrestling a bear. Not to mention it looked like a water bomb went off in the bathroom, and both my wife and I needed a dry set of clothes.

When we had a pair of Newfs, we bought one of the big blue oblong Little Tykes kiddie pools just for that purpose- otherwise trying to clean the mud off them/out of their coats would have been a Sisyphean task.

Trying to keep them from laying down to nap in the warm soapy water was another wrinkle that had never occurred to us before the fact.

They also used to tip their water bowls over so that they could lay in the water.

You made me think of this old guy. By far the best "jumping" dog I've had. He could jump in the back of the truck with the tailgate up.

My brother's boxer-dobe mix could do that, but you had to throw the frisbee just right to get her to...

He named her Phred [after Tom Terrific's dog- the Mighty Manfred

excuse me....how about a little privacy............had a pyr who was afraid of thunder and I was always amazed at the places a dog of that size could get in to.......he tried hiding under the bed once and couldn't get out.....had to disassemble the bed and frame to remove him.........Jack

Our younger Newf, Gizmo was afraid of thunder and would get up onto the bed and sleep between our heads- with her butt up against the back of my head, and head head between my SWMBO's head and the headboard- it was actually pretty comfortable- unless she had just come in out of the rain...

She was about 125-135# of furry lovable goofball..

While it may have been comfortable I do not know that I would be able to fall asleep with the butt end of a 125# goofball up against the back of my head. And what happens when you roll over in your sleep and face the other way?

"Fish" - 2.5 year old Cowboy Corgi (Blue Heeler / Corgi). 35 pounds of muscle and can run like the wind on those short legs. lol He has turned out to be a pretty awesome dog. He never wonders too far off of my 11 acres and there are some real places for him to roam adjacent to me if he wanted to. (he is neutered) My neighbors have horses. I have watched him from inside my house and he will mill around close to the horses and not mess with them. But if I walk him on a leash down my long driveway to get the mail or trashcan , at times he will go nuts lunging at a horse, but it is only when he is with me. It is the herding in him and I guess he thinks he is doing his job for me. He rides on the tractor when I am moving brush etc. but I don't let him ride when I am brush hogging for fear he will fall off and it is not good for a dog's ears. Not the best dog around young kids. He never has snapped at one, but has spun around like he was going to. When the grandbaby comes over we keep an eye on things. Super smart and obedient. He will wait for the okay to enter the house, go through the gate or jump in the car or mule.

I had a mini dachshund that would get in bed with us, half under the covers, the other half on the pillow just like us and lay on his back. The only issue, his butt was up on the pillow, head under the covers.

Got me snickering pretty good when my wife rolled over to cuddle him and got a face full :p
