Sears/Kmart quickly disappearing

I try to patronize Sears and occasionally Pennys. My wife needed a top load washer due to physical limitations that have been getting worse so last week I took her to Sears as our first stop. Very good sales lady helped us and I went home to research what she told us. Went back the next day and bought it. Good price, good service.

Herters is not there, I used to buy goods from them in the early 70's, I remember the quote on every page of the catalogue 'if animals do not live there humans cannot survive'.
From what I can gather Cabelas pretty much filled that gap.

And now I believe Cabelas is owned by Bass Pro......

The CEO of Sears should in my opinion make this last ditch effort...everything in Sears is made in the USA. EVERYTHING!
Tools, clothes, washing machines, riding mowers...it would be their nitch.
Show a competitor on a TV commercial...this is (Target, Walmart, Lowes, Harbor Freight, etc.), now say eliminate everything made in China...then show empty shelves.
Sears could also I'm thinking become an outlet for Snap On, Mac, etc.
I bet it would save Sears.

There's two about 20 mins from me that are closing. The third that is also about the same distance I guess is staying. I just bought a kayak from that store for my daughter, mainly because it was in stock. I liked that the order pickup place was easy to deal with but kinda stupid for them seeing you can't see any merchandise from there. They miss out on the compulsive sales.

Seems fishy to me that the CEO is trying to buy the Kenmore piece.

Recently needed to replace a part on an old Charbroil gas grill and the part was listed at Charbroil and other places as discontinued/not in stock. The only place that seemed to have it in stock and available to ship in a reasonable one week time was 'SearsPartsDirect' online and even had the original Charbroil part number. I figured this was an NOS part in their 'warehouse', thus the availability. Twenty days later nothing to indicate shipment, so I check the order status and it states, 'status from supplier is not yet available'. So not a stocked part and they probably won't be able to get it since it is discontinued.
Called their customer service to cancel order and got a girl with a heavy accent (guaranteed not in US). She supposedly did her thing to cancel the order and said I'd get an email the following day to confirm the cancellation. Now 5 days later no email or any indication of a refund. Next step will be going through the credit card company.
I found through a Google search that others are having similar issues with Sears, both with returns and refunds.
The final days of Sears are drawing near......... stay away.
