So true. Funny, when I called myself "GirWhoWantsTractor" I don't think I truly believed I'd ever be "GirlWhoGetsTractor."

New 2018 Max 26XL 4WD HST with FEL
Mahindra attachments:
5' Heavy Duty Box Blade
5' Standard Duty Landscape Rake
5' Heavy Duty Tilt and Angle Scraper Blade
Rear tires filled w/ WW fluid

Total price out the door: $17k

Will take a week for them to do the set-up and delivery, but I asked for the Operator's manuals now so I can start reading up.

Happy day!

:D

You really should consider a 6' rake and rear blade, heavy duty if possible on both. When a 6 footer is angled at 45*, it's only about 50" wide. Double check to see if you can swing the change. I believe that you'll be much happier in the long run.

Tight trails. Not practical to make them wider than 4' in a lot of places. So compromised. I did get a heavier duty box blade. I believe it weighs around 520 lbs.

The way you write it sounds like a romance novel :)

Still to come:

Either a Harbor Freight or Agr-Supply QA
EA 55" Wicked Root Grapple
Piranha Bar for the bucket
......?

Need to assemble a tractor tool kit. I probably have a lot of the tools already but would like to put them together in a separate tool box.

Assortment of wrenches in most common sizes for tightening bolts (assume this will be metric)
Grease gun (have a Pittsburg Pistol Grip automotive grease gun w/ extension)
Grease (have red grease in the cannister. What other kinds?)
Need to buy a GOOD tire gauge
I use a compressor to fill GT tires now, is that okay? special fitting?
Have a battery tender for the car, anyone use them?

Does anyone wax their tractors? :)
Get a parts manual and a workshop manual, they may be free online but if you have to pay for them they are well worth it.

And Harbor Freight wrenches are pretty good and very inexpensive.

I know the importance of those manuals from my car-crazy brothers. I will get them, though I'm like a cat looking at an algebra problem.

I was an early HF convert. I have a ridiculous amount of carpentry tools, but still lack some basic mechanics tools.

I have the HF quick hitch and it works good but the top hook can be a pain on some implements. I found an alternate top hook that sticks out about 1" further and it solves that problem. There are other threads on the HF top hook issue.

If you're getting a grapple did you get a 3rd function for the loader so you can open and close it?

With all of the rear attachments I'd look into a hydraulic top link. Helps with adjusting the implement angle on the go. How many rear remotes did you get?

Waxing tractors.....I thought about it but haven't actually done it....LOL.

Okay, apparently the hydraulic top link was something my dealer said no one does that around here. He was also surprised I might want a 3rd function and rear remote. He did say he could order and install the latter for me. So, since I don't really know what I'm doing, I've decided to wait for now. When it's time for the 50-hour service, I can have it done then.

No one will admit they wax their tractors? :)

Congrats on the new machine! I was eyeing the MaxXL, but ended up going with a slightly larger machine (and spending a bunch more money).

Re: the Dewalt Grease gun, note that the 20v is >$200, but I recently got the 18v model for ~$130 off Amazon (tool only). If you already have any of the 18v tools (as I did), it was a better option. Eventually, I'll get the 20v to 18v adapter and start buying the 20v tools. Milwaukee and a few other brands also make battery-operated grease guns, so if you're into a 'battery system' already, see if that brand makes a grease gun. If you have an air compressor, you can also get air powered grease guns cheaper than the battery models, though obviously you'll need to be within hose-length of your compressor. HF has them for ~$25, but they don't get very good review. A $70 Lincoln from HD might be a better option.

Re: cruise control - I personally almost never use it. I have it on my lawn tractor and I've never felt my foot getting tired from pressing on the pedal while mowing ~2 acres (2-3 hours of mowing). As you stated, there are things like hills and the thickness of my lawn isn't very consistent, so I'm often varying my speed. Maybe it would be different in larger, open areas with even grass.

I'm also finding many of my sockets and wrenches don't fit the larger bolts on my tractor (>1"). Might need to get some larger ones.

HF also has variety boxes of spare PTO pins, grease zerks, and things like that for a few bucks a box. Might be worth picking up some spares.

One implement I'm thinking about now (besides the grapple on order and wanting a set of pallet forks) is the Pine Straw Rake. We have a bunch of large pines around the house, so I think it may be good for cleaning up pine needles and pine cones, as well as maybe dethatching the lawn once in a while, and EA has one at a reasonable price. Not sure any of that applies in your case.

Don't forget to have fun!
