^ Thanks for that. I hadn't thought of trucking it all back to St. Louis County, but being a large metropolitan area... they should have the resources to handle it without drama. I know that my rural property's county would be hit-or-miss with a drop off location.

I took mine to Advance Auto and went in the back and poured it into their container. Should not expect them to do this.

I could drive all the way into the Kubota dealer in Spokane - 52 miles, round trip - and leave any/all oil products with the service dept. They have a waste oil furnace.

However - I have a 55 gallon drum - half buried in the ground for convenience - I put all my waste oil in there and soak all my wood fence posts in that brew. In the good old day - I would add penta to the brew - those days are long gone.

I take mine to TSC, they have a waste oil tank on premises. If I do it in VT, no questions asked. In NYS, they want pic of me, the cans, my retinal scan and fingerprints of innocent bystanders, but they too take it.
Call round your area, LOTS of garages burn waste oil so they'll gladly accept it, free.

Here in N.H. you have to write down your name, town & # of gallons on a log, but otherwise it's hassle-free.

Don't know if it's a state requirement or just company/store policy, but last time I dropped some off at O'Reillys they told me an employee has to dump it in the tank. Haven't tried taking it anywhere else.

Hyd oil will burn without diesel being mixed with it. May not start quite as easy but will start fine.

I keep a five gallon bucket of it open and maybe about half full to drop pto sprayer pump into to prevent corrosion after using it. I also use it to coat liked disk blades to prevent rust when not needed for a while. Think this was mentioned but just in case, use on wooden equipment trailer decks. Would not use it on any wood that food even for animals come in contact with. Have used the 5 gallon bucket for such as shovels dipping also but can contiminate soil if over done.

When I was a kid we knew an old farmer that had an old MF diesel tractor. He used waste oil of all types as diesel fuel. Long before we had the eviornmental watch dogs we now have. His reason was not cost, just getting rid of it. Iused to help him strain it through a nylon stocking. Should work good though as long as you filter it good first.
