$1600 for the whole thing? You got a great deal...

Aaron Z

Yes. It was my neighbor. He’s been doing it since 01 and when the lift cylinder went out again he was just done with it. He’s made his money back many times over. Offered it to a guy about 20 mins away for 5k which would’ve been a bargain still I think. Right now I’m focused on getting the motor running, replace any failed hoses, fix the lift cylinders and get these boxes dumped so I can evaluate the condition and repairs needed. I’ll get it blasted and figure out painting or Bedliner before I replace all the hoses.

Just ordered the carb for the motor and have lots of calls tomorrow to make

It looks like a heavy duty unit.

Looks like it might be the 16k trailer, they currently make them in 12k, 16k and 20k sizes.

Aaron Z

That’s what the seller said. 16k is plenty for me. I put it in the driveway to degrease and pressure wash. Carb should be here Tuesday. Need to order a hyd tank filter and cap for it and figure the hoses out. Atleast one will be replaced this week. Plugged a tire too. It’s low on tread but would make a good spare. Checking on availability of 4 new wheels and tires. Can’t stanf rusted wheels. Hope to get a bunch done this week but i have 50 acres I need to spray. Hopefully can knock most of it out Friday

Got the carb installed today. Started right off the bat and runs great. Nedland is going to be sending me some new hyd parts like the filter and new cap along with new nylon rub blocks. They were going to send me all new hyd hoses for around 700-800 but they have made some minor changes and there’s a chance that they won’t won’t for my application like I need. I’ll source them locally.

Met with a sandblaster, he’s going to blast it for $600, I’ll paint the rails and rollers and Do bedliner for the frame. Have a line on new 17.5 wheels and tires too. Load range H I believe.

New adjusted budget is approx 4K for everything. Nedland said a new Trailer is 19k and approx 4K per container. Still thinking I’m coming out ok

sounds good I bet you'll like it I'm interested in how it turns out. my wife would be upset with me but if I found a deal like that it would have to follow me home.

Spent a good part of today working on it and had to call in some reinforcements. I was trying to get the bed pins out so I could lift and move the big rails that the containers are lifted on. These are the two main hinge pins. I would like to remind everyone that grease is cheap and makes things so much easier. The pins were seized into the brackets. Had my buddy come over and gouge them out and the pipe flanges to get to them. Spent about 10 hrs on those two pins. 5 of those hours with 3 people working. It was a mess. However, they are out and I’m going to work on removing all the hyd lines and the lift cylinder pins Friday evening or this weekend.

I don’t think I’m going to be putting the safety valves back in. They require the pump be on and sending fluid for it to do anything. They are for in the event of a catastrophic hose failed the cylinder doesn’t come down. I have seen them work when a hose failed. That said, they add a level of complication that I don’t want to deal with. Plus it’ll made the hose routing substantially easier.

I’ll sleep on it. Going to have to have 6 hoses made bu Deere due to the 90 degree fittings on them. I’ll start taking more pics but it’s coming along.

Have you looked at hoses from Surplus Center: Hydraulic Hose Assemblies | Hydraulic Hose and Hose Assemblies | Hydraulics | www.surpluscenter.com going into right angle "Street elbow" fittings (Surplus Center
If you have the time and can go in whole foot increments, they can save you a bundle.

Aaron Z

This is what they look like. I値l just go to Deere and have them make me some up. I only neee 7 and they aren稚 very long. Will be going to the T and then I can run surplus center hoses for everything else. I will probably get a bunch of their weld on hose clamps too so it get nice and tucked in.

Been making progress this last week. Took about a day and a half to get 4 pins out. I don稚 think they had seen grease in 17 years. Sandblaster was here this morning. Got it primed this afternoon. Made up 4 custom hyd hoses yesterday and will be ordering the rest thru surplus center. Going with Sherwin Williams primer and epoxy or enamel. Don稚 remember which one I bought right now.

Ordered new black 1/4 thick wheels with 235/75/17.5 18 ply tires and new brakes for all four corners will be coming soon. When I pick up the tires, I値l be able to buy new led lights and two fenders to install. It痴 coming together. Should be able to hit the updated 4K budget but I知 not sparing on anything when I知 this far in.

I値l add some more pics tonight. I can稚 believe how excited I am about a trailer. I知 sure the excitement will be dashed when I get into the containers.
