Congratulations Gas! Man I'm jealous. Did you trade in your red-headed stepchild?

Took the backhoe off the M59 yesterday and attached the three point hitch. Had to grab some additional hardware today to finalize everything. Then hooked up the brush hog and went to cutting the trails and open areas. Worked beautiful! The M59 is a nice tractor to mow with. I’m back to having the protection of the canopy, and that is good. I remembered how I enjoyed that when I had the L35. 507ish hours now. Had to stop to work some of the real job. Ugh LOL

So what's the history on your M59? I was trying to see from the photo if had the hood protector piece. And if so what you thought about it. Itwas an odd option. Mine came with it - at the time all M59s came that way. I can't imagine what it is good for protecting the hood from, but as a tool shelf when doing maintenance it is handy.

Speaking of tools, you did mention that you wish yours had a toolsbox. That's a pet peeve of lots of TBNers.

Have you come up with a toolbox yet?
I don't think any tractor ever made has come from the factory with an adequate toolbox, which tells me that tractors aren't designed by engineers who have actually used one.

I'm still trying to figure out a good place to mount a real toolbox on mine. It looks like the best place is going to be right behind the backhoe controls. Until I build the right shape box, here is a photo of one I put on there temporarily about 5 years ago....

That is a good spot for a tool box. I haven’t had time to do anything to mine, yet. I’ve just been getting some work done with it. Mowing, stump and rock pulling, some dirt work.

But unfortunately been working some extra hours at work. Then the family stuff. (Busy time of year, and not enough tractor time.LOL)

Mine has the protector for the grill. Not sure if that is the one your talking about.?

The history of my tractor is I bought it from a rental supply place that gave me the best deal I could find for my trade-in. I wanted an M59 this time. Had hoped for a later model but more $. With the low hours I thought it would be worth it.

Here's a picture of the hood protector I mentioned. It pivots forward and down to allow clearance for opening the hood, & in that position it becomes a handy tool tray.
Hint, don't forget and lower the bucket when the protector is in the tool tray position.....

That is a handy option, but you are correct in that it looks odd. But looks are not what tractors are about. Nice looking M59!!!!
