It wouldn't be long before M&M got there foot in the door enough to try a road legal version.
Seems to me FCA adding everything to make it street legal would bring the cost up to equal Wrangler.

That street legal Gator I saw was in Fairfield CA... it took the owner a lot of time and wrangling to get plates for it... he did and insurance too...

Maybe it was just a fluke?

Years ago, I helped a disabled man get a street legal California License for a golf cart... I hauled it to the DMV in the back of my pickup truck for inspection... built a dirt berm to load and unload...

He used it for years to go the market and pharmacy... when he had to move to a retirement facility the cart was donated...

I'm disappointed the tuner guy didn't explain how he got the top speed. Without OD and with 3.73 gears and donut sized tires I'm guessing the little diesel isn't happy at 70mph....

As to competing with the Wrangler for sales. Will only happen with buyers that have no clue what the Wrangler offers. Sadly there are those buyers out there.

I put the Roxor with the box store UTVs.

Interesting setup. That tuning takes it out of the UTV range into a potential street vehicle.

It would be handy on a ranch.

I just wasn't very busy this morning, so I stopped at a dealer and looked at the Roxors they had, but didn't ask about the price, since I have no intention of buying one.

He did at the beginning...the tune gets rid of the speed limiter.

I can't imagine what will happen to those things at higher speeds. Oh wait, yes I can.

Yes, obviously so. Only way to increase ground speed is to increase governed speed. I would have liked to hear the rpm number change.

He's increased the ground speed by 70%-ish. Thru gearing that doesn't mean he had to increase governed rpms by that much. But I'm guessing he increased it by 15%-ish. Maybe more.

So now the little engine has increased fuel delivery and advanced fuel delivery timing while turning 15% higher rpms.

Not for long.

... but it's going to be somewhere north of 3500 rpm (?) at 70+mph unless it also has jumbo tires.

I remember my Wagoneer with 3.73's and stock tires sounded real busy on the freeway. Its short-stroke 304 V8 - essentially a SBC - didn't seem to mind.

Adding current-spec airbags, designing crush space in front and side-impact door stiffeners etc to meet current passenger car specs seems unrealistic.

I like the idea of starting with a farm jeep chassis and setting this on it. I doubt a company could build several. There was a similar case involving Land Rovers that got shut down.

It's my opinion that it's a "knock on the door" by Mahindra. No expectation of great sales. But a start.
