What Toilet Brand Would Buy??

American Standard Champion 4. Has a 4" flush valve and works great. I was on some passion killers before hip replacement and had some toilet stoppage issues. No problems with the Champion 4.

I don't understand your statement atsah. A "standard" height toilet is 14-15", a Comfort height is 16 1/2" and and ADA toilet 17-19".

Op said ada is 16.5

TOTO spec sheet says 16.5 to bowl is ADA,, I have never found a toilet more than 16.5 bowl height.
I believe the 17-19 is height including seat,,,

Does anyone have access to a spec sheet of ANY toilet with a bowl height of more than 16.5 inches??

Here's my two cents. I have two brands that I won't buy. I ran a handyman/restoration service specializing in condos. One development of forty units had two toilets each and all were Crane.
Apparently they had a problem with the tanks cracking and spilling all the water over the floor. Naturally the water would continue to run until someone turned it off. This was a known problem but the manufacturer would only replace those that failed. The damage to this unit totaled over $30,000.00. The condo's insurance insisted they all be replaced and this was done with the full cost being borne by the homeowners. I don't want to own anything made by that manufacturer. The other brand is Kohler. I built a new three bedroom house house in 1996 that had five bathrooms and all had Kohler fixtures installed. This was done at the time because the resale market demanded this brand. Within six months all the flapper valves started to deteriorate, requiring their replacement at a cost of about $50.00 each. Kohler blamed the problem on the addition of the disinfectant that hung in each tank(turns the water blue). After the replacement flappers started to go awhile later, without the use of the disinfectant, I talked the local hardware store into obtaining generic copies for their stock. I had a few further problems with them and the person running the plumbing section at the store thanked me for getting them to carry this product as it became their best seller. I paid top buck for what I expected was a quality product and feel I was shafted. I won't consider that brand again. End of rant!

About 4 years ago we remodeled our very small bathroom. Our house was built by my grandfather in 1953 and as you can imagine the bathroom is quite small. Certainly a luxury compared to the old outhouse. Our main goal was to remove the tub and install a walk in shower.

My pastor is a lifelong carpenter, builder, and home re-modeler. I trust him. We installed a tiled shower and tiled the floors and sides. We moved the toilet to another wall and installed an ADA compliant toilet. That is all he uses now since many of his clients are older adults.

He installed one of the lowest cost toilets sold at our local Lowes. Here is the link. In 5 years I have had no issues. Only had to remove and clean the inlet filter one time. My water comes from a pressure spring and we do have some sediment in the water. I know it is inexpensive but again I have had zero issues with it. The 17-1/4 inch height is very convenient.

American Standard Champion 4 is what we have in our home. One on the main floor and one in the basement. Both flush great. Six years now, not a single problem with either.

That is correct. Listed heights include the seat. Perhaps the taller ADA heights have especially tall seats??

We've had the water saver ADA TOTO toilets with "soft close" seats in both bathroooms now for more than 5 years; best toilets we ever had, as far as I'm concerned. I didn't know there was any problem finding them now.

That's right; 16.5 to bowl, about 17.5 including the seat.

My mother had very limited mobility but was not confined to a wheelchair. When I upgraded her bathroom I went with the tallest which helps them sit and stand easier and an integrated tank and base which is much easier to keep clean and provides better support when they use the tank to move around. I have installed several Glacier Bay toilets and have not had any issues.
