A sunny day. Finally we get a september morning, over halfway into the month. Speaking of halfway, my subaru is over 19k miles in 6 months.

Some heavy rains the last couple days made a mess of traffic. But it seems they do that in sunshine also. Truck parked in the trees this morning, had just happened. An suv was down in a field beyond this.

Does that mean you use Chrome on your ipad?

No, so far I致e stuck to Safari. But here on TBN, frequently when I try to use an apostrophe, it gets changed to a string of weird characters that obliterate some of the characters around the apostrophe. I can edit the post and try to fix the weird characters, and sometimes the fix works when I view the post, then later when I view the post on the iPad, the weird characters are back.:confused3::confused2:

Good Morning!!!! 59F @ 6:30AM. Sunny. High 83F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Yesterday was a very big day for the Volkswagon van. The mechanic was able to get it past the smog test, a huge relief after last week when one tester refused to test it because he wasn’t sure about the Subaru engine swap. Then late last week, this testing outfits equipment broke, and pushed the test out to yesterday. The last aggravation came when I went to the DMV to get license plates for it, and learned that there was some kind of hold placed on it that prevented the clerk from issuing the plates. It turns out that when I put the check into the drop box at the Chico DMV a few weeks ago, the clerk there forgot to lift the hold he’d placed on the registration. Yesterday I’d gone to the DMV in Paradise to avoid the two and a half hour wait at Chico, and the Paradise clerk was powerless to fix the problem. But she did telephone the manager of the Chico branch, who arranged for me to go directly to the forgetful clerk, and since I had to go to Chico anyway, it wasn’t that big a deal. It still took the Chico clerk a half hour on the telephone to the Sacramento DMV headquarters to fix the problem, though, time I spend standing at his window watching him yap on the phone.:confused2: But I was able to get the license plates, and they are on the van now, and the mechanic thinks the drive line vibration is due to worn out rubber bushings between the front diferential and the frame. He’s taking a couple more days to make sure, then I pick up the van so I can paint a decorative color band around the body during this nice spell of warm, not hot, weather we’re enjoying. Then when the bushings come in, I’ll go down and help him install them and this ordeal will be over.:muttering:

The BMW dealer had to order the choke cable I needed, but did have new switch clusters, so I’ll keep going on the old bike until the van’s ready. Like most of you, I just can’t sit still with nothing to do...

Happy Hump Day everyone!

68°F and spotty rain this morning, going up to 93° again today. One more day of heat, then we settle back to 70s and 80s for awhile. The rain this morning is a bit of a surprise, as none was forecast until Friday. Don't mind it too much, though, as the dust form the corn crops coming out this week is wreaking havoc with my Wife's allergies.

Congrats on the Vanagon progress, RNG. Been a long time coming.

I've had a couple of coworkers over the years who have suffered in varying degrees the effects of Bell's Palsy. One was fairly minor, like a little numbness now and then. The other would occasionally come to work with half his face drooping like he was having a stroke or something. He also sometimes had motor control issues with one hand. Strange affliction.

BEF, our local traffic guys like to blame weather for accidents as well. Yet, the same accidents happen in the same places whether wet or dry just about every day. Same with the slowdowns they like to refer to as "sunshine slowdowns" ... happen at the same places even on cloudy days. Just bad drivers, in my estimation.

Yea, the Vanagon is legal!

Buckeye, what if the VFD is not a government agency and is supported by donations and fundraisers. Would charging for services be a problem?

Buckeye, that was one ride no one wants to take. WOW.

RNG, THAT IS GREAT NEWS. Now you can start planning your country wide tour. :)

Have a great one. Ed

76 degrees early this morning, going for a high of 94. I started on the yard as soon as it was light enough to see; mowed, edged, and trimmed in spite of the heavy dew. Then I did a little dethatching with the Mantis. I've bought some new gas, but I'm still running the gas/oil mix that's well over a year old.

Eric, I’ve sold a ‘61 Thunderbird to one of your fellow Brits, his name is Ally, goes by Al and lives near London. Final papers and such should be done by next week and then prep for shipping.

Pretty day, some drier but still humid and not as warm at about 84. Should soon be getting fall weather though.

Wow, that's a great-looking car, Randy. Someone in London is going to be turning some heads.

71°F and only .09 inches rain.
Dried out enough yesterday to start 2nd mowing of my bushhogging field. Still too wet in the tall, thick stuff. Got a couple hours before I managed to lose a bit on mower. Should be able to find a replacement at Fastenal today. Before I can do that, have our annual teleconference with financial advisor, pretty much a social call.

Back to mowing once I get nut replaced and day is nice.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Ye$, politicians intentionally underfund fire and police, education, roads, so they can fund their favorite welfare programs. Then they get the taxpayers to pay more $$$ so they can misappropriate more $$$. It's a never ending cycle. Thats why this topic belongs in another thread. In the end, its all a political shell game.

And... we get to vote for the lesser of two evils... Lucky us.

PlayStation Classic: Sony is getting in on the retro console craze
RNG, Sony's new dog Aibo is for us, not so expensive when you think of the cost of a real dog, plus when they get old,
no expensive health care and tragic loss, and all this guy wants is some new batteries every ten years or so...
Now if it can answer the phone and bite the robodialers, I'd be happy.

Cool morning read, Eric. Thanks.
Prayers to you Buppies. Hope YOU are well.
It is the year of the mower for me Ed. Seeing how mine let me down in the middle of the season. And mommy nature sure watered my lawn this year.
Early bird gets the worm. LOL. Blessed or cursed that I just don't sleep. Long that is. For me 4 to 5 hours is it.

A lot of the early churches in the bible are in turkey. Antioch, lystra, derbe, Ephesus, Philadelphia, sardis, pergamon.
Wow, you know your stuff. I believe the dentist told me that Justinian had converted.

topps, nice ride. My neighbors had one long ago. That should turn heads in London. I wonder what the mileage is?

THE VANAGON HAS PLATES!!!! What a hassle you went through for the plates, and for the 2-3 years it seems now...

Have had 2 friends with Bells palsy. One was permanent, the other it lasted about a month. He couldn't even wink his eye for a few weeks. But he healed up I guess OK.

Rip, now my 2005 deere riding mower is cutting out after 15 minutes or more. It was doing it to my daughter, so I'm not sure yet if it is gas or spark related. It sounds spark related like the seat safety switch or something is acting up...

I want another Golden too. But the end of life vet bills tried to swamp me on the last one at 10 years old. Cancer.

Kyle my mower turned out to have junk in the fuel system. Specifically the cut off valve. I went ahead and had the dealer pull the tank and clean it all out. Only got an hour on it since it came back. No mowing today. Escorted daughter to her new job in DC today. Stopped by to see some old friends here and there. Told her how proud I am of her and welcome to the rat race.
Run in roof in the AM. Maybe do some grass.

Hope all had a GREAT day and have a good night.

Got the grass mowed and weedeated. Played rummy with the wife and did a few little things around the house. Good day.

Randy, you must have a car lot somewhere. Nice looking car, hope the new owner enjoys his old ride. Wonder how much it costs to ship a car to the UK?

Buppies, wife wants a cat, I would rather have another dog but I think we have enough pets. Good luck with the Golden.

Kyle good luck with the mower.

Have a great night. Ed

Good morning to all! Had some showers / storms this afternoon, more supposed to occur tonight. I hope so. Then only highs in the 70's for the next week....at least for now.

RNG...wow congrats!...finally! Hope everything continues on the successful path.

Drew... Glad you got the yard back into shape! I'm sure there is great pride reflected in your work.

Rip... Hope the mower is fixed and done right.

Finished the last workday for the week. Starting up a new division up in Santa Fe, so been commuting an hour each way. Going through some old mining towns and beautiful mountain countryside. Makes it pleasurable.

Ortho doc aspirated a bunch of fluid off the knee again, stuck in some cortisone. His first response was that the knee was not healing as he anticipated and wanted to do surgery again. After discussing it, he's going to do another MRI and see if anything is obvious first. He doubled the anti inflammatory meds dosage......well I guess I'll find out what's going on next month...

Everyone have a good end of the week, the weekend is close. Prayers out for those needing.
