Could be anything but it looks to me like the remains of a small hog ring. Anything on (or near) a Kubota that gets a crimped fastener?

1200 times this thing was hammered into the head just in that time alone.
I think you're right though, intake manifold where the hose connects to it, or debris in the hose itself during assembly. Certainly behind the air filter and most likely over the hump under the hood, the air velocity has to be pretty low in there.
Yeah, I never thought of that. Maybe it was in the folds of the filter, then worked its way in.I have personally seen staples in both air filters and hoses. Not sure why.
