I did some odd jobs for neighbors.
One older guy (90's) liked my work and occasionally gave me his fathers old master craftsman tools since He knew I appreciated them.
I listed and sold his old 'tombstone plane' on EBay and it went for $650!
The majority were old English imported craftsman tools.
I still have lots of his 'gifts' all of which I know are in the collectable class.
Some of the old auger bits I have converted to wood lathe knives by simple grinding and adding hand grips.
Gotta admit I am a tool freak and like to have that special tool for that specific task.
Like I tell my better half, if I only use it once it is paid for. (garage sales finds)
Generally I can identify most tools and often that is what gets me to own them. Ever so often a seller says if you can identify it , its yours. Generally I win. LOL.
BUT, I have one that I must post. Weird tool that seems to grab wires from 3 directions for I presume soldering or welding, A very delicate precisely machined tool that must have cost taxpayers mega $$'s. The inscribed name suggests that the fabricator was in the particle accelerator fabrication business.
How or why this item is in my neighborhood is again a big mystery.
Some day soon I'll take pics and post it as 'mystery tool'.
