Thanks Dragoneggs.

Wish there was a way to stop this thread. Gone way out of control on off subject comments. I would venture the off topic discussion irritates many. Let's just sell my heater and get on with life.

Ain't a hater, but at 60, I'm too old to be told what I can and can't do.

I looked at that, couldn't figure it out, looked like all commercial adds. Figured most TBNers are like me and the Forums would get better exposure. This is not the type thing that will sell tomorrow, somebody has to need it. Have run it on CL for over a month with no response except one scammer who wanted to pay and me and ship it via a third party. Shut him down, don't have time to play games.

Don't respond with scammer stories!

NONE of the comments are off-topic.. people are trying to convince you not to make a mistake.. THAT is helpful, and ON-TOPIC.. if you refuse to listen to reason, then you can go to the first page, report your post, and ask for the topic to be locked..

If you want to sell the item, list it as "For sale hanging garage unit heater, gas, high efficient" NOT "For sale condensing unit heater"

I looked at it in person... it is brand new/never installed, and would be great for a large garage/shop.

they are very easy to convert from natural to LP gas

Yes I am aware of a kit which I believe just changes the orifice size.

I am considering it but the condensing unit is a fair amount larger than a 'non condensing' style, requires more plumbing, and I am not sure I want that big of a unit in my two car garage.

Yes you can change out the orifices, and a kit for the regulator, or you could just drill the orifices .
Propane burns at about 11''wc nat. gas would burn around 3.5'' wc after going through the regulator in the gas valve

Good thing about a condensing unit is. They use less gas, and can be vented with PVC terminated just outside the wall, or through the roof which is cheaper, and easier than running metal dw vent through the roof

Yeah, I was looking at the install specs to figure best venting scheme. To be honest, the size is bothering me more than the plumbing. I do appreciate the efficiency and I believe the heated air would be dryer, which my tools would welcome.

it should be some larger because of the extra heat exchanger, but it shouldn't be that much larger /taller.
Of course I have no idea of the space requirements for a unit

To say it would be cheaper to operate than propane would depend on nat gas prices vs propane in your area.
Nat sure has the convenience advantage over propane.

Heck, I was in the HVAC business for many years. I don't even heat my garage. 50x80 pole barn would cost me a fortune to heat

Ok I just went back and looked. That is a unit heater /hanging heater, so you would need the head room to install it. It usually hangs from rafter/ ceiling

I have only propane as a choice.

My current shop is my two car detached garage (cars sit outside) with an 8ft ceiling with little insulation. I'm 6'2" and I already have a tall metal storage cabinets on wheels, old kitchen cabinet uppers, metal storage shelves lining the three walls other than the garage door side. Plus I have a JET ceiling mounted air filtration unit.

So, real estate is critical for me. Yeah, I need a bigger shop but my property makes that a challenge without major expense.

I'm also 6'2 240 myself so I know there wouldn't be much room with 8' ceilings.

My attached 2 car garage has 10' ceilings. On my 50x80 16' ceiling.
I have a two post vehicle lift and with my truck in the air. I have plenty of room.

Perhaps you could heat your shop pretty well with a radiant wall heater. It would be a very good option, and They are 100% efficient and take up very little wall space.
I use one for my attached garage in the winter. Keeps the dog cozy

Got to buy a heat lamp to heat the chicken coop tomorrow

Thanks to Dragoneggs for resurrecting this post.

I have installed many unit heaters and the ideal location is tucked into a corner. If I installed in my garage it would go in the same corner where the furnace and WH is now. The furnace is also a condensing type. That area has to be clear anyway. I plan to replace the WH with a condensing on demand unit in the near future also. Last winter my highest gas bill was $90; WH, furnace, and gas range. If/when I need to replace the dryer it will be changed to gas also. Contemplating converting my Gen set to NG also. Love that NG.

If I do not sell it by early spring, I just may and install it anyway. Yes the condensing type is a little larger but this one can be installed close to the ceiling. I think one of the attachments to the post has the size. The install instructions are very complete and any good DIY "expert" should have no problem installing.
