Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins-opinions

I had a 2008 and now own a 2015 Ram w/ Cummins. Both have been great trucks. I would not hesitate in the least to buy another one.

I LOVE the B Cummins diesel, I do NOT like the truck that's wrapped around it...

Someone told me that when they saw my Dodge/Cummins, and they were right.

I love to get my friends all wound up telling them that the EPA considers the Cummins to be a medium duty diesel and that the Power Stroke and the Duramax are rated as light duty diesels. Unfortunately for them it's true.

I have two Cummins diesels. Their reliability is legendary. Not so much on the newer emissions ones though. I don't mind the Dodge body's. I find that Chevy's and Fords look absolutely ugly in comparison to a Dodge. That my opinion!

How are they on reliability, especially with all the emission stuff? My biggest concern is high dollar repair bills after warranty expiration.

Your Tundra is not even broken in yet! A friend drives a 2012 Tundra and in the last 315K miles, has only spent $400 on a fan clutch repair.

The Tundra has been phenomenal. Great truck. This is by no means a done deal. Just do not know much about Ram. Want to be well educated in my decision to either purchase or pass.

I owned a early 2004 with a Cummins. I liked the truck but it doesn’t really apply to the truck you are looking at. They have improved them so much. I always here people that don’t own one say the Cummins is great but the Dodge not so much. Don’t buy into that. Once you drive it you’ll know if you like it or not.

Known problems? It a modern diesel, emmisions problems can be an issue be it a pickup, over the road truck or tractor. With the Cummins being no worse or maybe better than anything else. One warning, look at the payload sticker and make sure it meets your needs. I can’t remenber the exact numbers but some Ford half tons have as much payload as a 3/4 ton.

I think the gvwr was 12.5k. One thing I discovered-3.42 axle ratio. Was hoping for 3.73.

For me, looks has nothing to do with it...

I have Chevy, Ford and Dodge right now...

For me, it's the cheeepazzed paint and pizzpoor electrical in them! Especially the poor electrical!

own a 2007 ram 5.9 with over 100K no issues thus far.
Unless you tow allot I would stay gas.

Towing capacity of today's gas trucks are very close to my diesel
