Good morning!!!!

drinking first cup of coffee. 40° with rain this morning. Heading to 45° with rain ending in afternoon. Over 1" rain since yesterday morning. Got all my gear together to pick up bedroom set. Found all my bungee straps that have been missing since I cleaned up barns last year. They were where they belonged. But I never looked in that storage bin. :confused3: Talked to son in afternoon. He tells me he still has his covered trailer. He is bringing it to my place today. Better way to move furniture. Canceled yesterday's move with seller. Going to do move one day next week. When weather is better. Need to figure out how to store another trailer in barn.

PJ, We all need empty nest time. Enjoy yours. Both sons left for awhile. Then came back for a year. We have had over 25 years of empty nesting. Always nice to have them visit with grandkids.

Roy, hope you are getting better.

Bird, I have visited and eye doctor that took care of patients that way with mother. At 90 years old she had no idea if they had treated her eye problem. My wife went to a dental oral surgeon. Similar thing but patient stays in same room with 5 to 6 aids. Wife was happy with her care there.

Randy, hope your day went well.

Looking, I did a lot of travel from Detroit to Toronto in my job. My biggest gripe was drivers that would start to pass you on the 401 then stay along side of you so you could not use the left lane. I remember driving Vette home from Brampton. A driver in a Impala did that several times. I finally sped up with him following me. Last I seen of him was a cloud of dust in a turn. I looked at the speedo. It was past 100 mph. Never got a ticket for speeding in Canada. But there were some close calls. I would start at speed limit on trips. Then hit button to increase speed on cruise control each time I got passed. I was usually very close to 80 mph (128 kph) by the end of my trip. Still getting passed.

Drew, good luck with barber. Hard to find a good one.

Good Morning All.

I keeping hearing commercials from HD that it's time to change out your water heater if yours is over 10 years old. Got a similar statement about furnaces from inspections and tune up last week. My water heater and furnace are over 20 years old. Anyone else got over 10 year old water heater and furnace that they have no plans on changing out?

God morning! 44˚ clear skies.

Ron I had two hot water heaters in Houston that had to be replaced after 10 years and the one in the cabin and the shack in the back had to be replace at 10 years. My parents had theirs replaced at 10 years and and then again after the next 10 years. In Texas hot water heaters only go out in February.

47° here this morning and forecast is for 73° and sunny this afternoon.

We got a bit over 1 1/4" of rain with the front that came thru Wednesday evening.

Tanks are both full and pastures are "Squishy" so tractor's are parked for a few days.

Today is final day for Texas early voting and most likely the same everywhere. Hope everyone gets out to cast your vote. We're having very high voter turnout in Texas.

Hope y'all have a great day and weekend.

Prayers to all.

We are on our 3rd water heater in 46 years. First was replaced because we switched from electric to gas. 2nd was replaced because we moved water heater from utility room to cellar. Needed a short height one in cellar. Looking back. The current one is probably over 30 years old. We do have a water softener on it. Very little residue comes out when I drain it 2 times a year.
Original electric must have weighed over 200 lbs. Was full of calcium and lime. Original owners never had a softener.

Ron, what maintenance do you have to do on a water softener besides adding salt. This house has one.

Water quality is the biggest killer or savior of water heaters. House at ranch has two Rinnai tankless units and we have a high quality water softener system feeding house and quarters at our barn which has a conventional tank type heater.

I just add salt. But we have a double resin tank system. All SS valves. With a double tank system. Tank that needs regenerating uses water from tank that is currently softening house water. This makes resin last a long time. Ours is over 30 years old with no repairs. About 800 gallon between regenerating. We use Morton or Diamond Crystal pellets in ours. About 40 lbs per month. We have iron in our water. So we use iron out type pellets.
