solenoid should have 12 volts and the BW wire terminal from the safety switches with the switch in the on position and should have 12 volts on the BW wire terminal from the switch in the start position IF it has the 12 v on both then it is bad if not from the switch then look into the switch

Thanks! How do I check the starter relay?

there needs to be voltage on one terminal of the coil, ground on the other in START position. and the contacts have to have voltage on both terminals in the START position. the relay supplies the voltage to the starter solenoid when in crank position, but you are not getting that..

the starter relay is what I was calling the solenoid. Test are in the guide I posted. on schematic is call starter relay.

relays and solenoids are 2 different things.. on his tractor, the starter relay activates the solenoid on the starter..

Can you guide me on where the starter relay is on this tractor?

I never worked on a B2920 so I don't know its location. If you follow the BW and BR wires they should lead you to it. Maybe radios1 knows the location. sorry I kept calling the relay a solenoid. Your friend that is helping you should be able to find it and follow the test procedures.

sorry. I can't find a picture or description of where it is, it's probably in the repair manual for your tractor, it's not even in the owners manual..

My 3cents... Messicks or Kubota online, under parts, and then into parts breakdown diagrams for your tractor under 'Electrical System'. (Example, there are several on my "L" series) . I started at the top Electrical diagram and went thru each on the Electrical parts breakdowns, then in the lower half, scan the detail (or use Ctl-F in browser to search for text) and look for key words . I quickly grabbed a screen and pasted it below. In there are many elements and the locations. Sounds long but took 10mins. There were 4 or 5 links.

And... Messicks (or other.. pick you fav place... Not pushing one over the other.. it's just who I use). Their online service staff for parts will pull these up too and get you an answer. Even pulling in someone to help you get to the part you need. YMMV

the manual for the B2910 WSM (service manual) from the link earlier have the details as follows : Maybe they are close enough to use on the 2920? Dunno.

I guess the "panel board" is the dashboard? I see the wording is English with a poor translation from Japanese, sometimes that is way too confusing..

Sure looks like dash needs to come off. Do I need a wheel puller to get the steering wheel off?

Apologies if I am off base but I had to replace my instrument cluster and I thought I had to pull my steering wheel to get the housing off. I finally realized I could pop out instrument cluster without removing anything else but the lower cowling that comes off easily. Maybe this gives you access you need?

I didn't know if it had a solenoid or relay. Was talking solenoid before the diagram was posted and just kept thinking solenoid not noticing it had a relay until a little later.

his tractor is a bit odd, usually a starter relay takes the load off the ignition switch, the ignition switch only needs to energize the coil on the relay, in this case, the starter relay acts only as the safety switch, the full current of the starter solenoid is supplied by the ignition switch, which goes through the relay, I'm surprised they did it this way!..

My "L" does not have one. I wonder if it has something to do possibly w/ no firewall tween IGN and Tank? and providing a gas sealed relay? My ignition is separated from the innards by a hard wall. I could not tell on here and it's a SWAG anyway. Dunno. Hope this is finally down to failed component isolation. seems close.

I wouldn't think you would have to pull the steering wheel. The dash doesn't have to come off just out far enough for you to get behind it to unplug the switch and get your test leads to the switch.

Anything new to report? I’d love to know what was the problem.

So far nothing. Have not had time to investigate further. Maybe this weekend.
