I currently have Milwaukee M18 cordless tools and it's clear that they have limitations. Drilling holes over 1/2" in steel can be done but it takes a toll on the battery. If I have more than one or two I use a real drill. The same goes for saws. There's certainly places where a battery is much more desirable. When building my house before the power was installed it sucked having to listen to a generator run but I don't know of anyone making a cordless table saw.

It looks like both DeWalt and Milwaukee offer one:

The little shop type vac, 5 gallon is it? Maybe less. It sucks good, but tips over too easily. I may need to add some kind of feet to it. Hose is stiff too and doesn't bend very well, which is why I keep tipping it over.

Battery powered devices don't pollute? They just transfer the pollution to the generating station that provides the power to charge them.
Not to mention the factory that built the batteries or the waste when the battery is spent. Not knocking batteries vs. other forms but I think many folks just see a 'clean' battery output and it has zero pollution impact.

i gave the ratcheting pipe threader a try. stay away. my first 1/2 in black iron and i'm going along, gets real easy... casting around the dies disintegrates into a handful of cast iron bits. ohwell. traded it back in on a couple more furniture carts.

This is good to know. I almost bought this threader, but ended up finding an old American made set on Craigslist for less $$.

Wow. I bought the set that goes up to 2" in about 2003. I've only used the set for maybe 50 cuts overall in 1/2, 3/4, 1.25, 1.5" galvanized pipe, plus 2" PVC. No problems. I doubt the dies are anywhere near tradesman quality but this worked fine for the farm repairs I needed.

If it were me, I would wait until they have a different production run on the shelves then buy again. HF's Chinesium is random in quality. :)

Agree with California that you should try again. I've had the 1/2" to 1" set for nearly 20 yrs. I haven't used it a whole lot, but I've never had a problem.

Did I find a tool they don't have? No antifreeze tester???? I thought they had everything? How can I do a Do or Don't if they don't have one?

This is a Do.

I have one in the garage somewhere that's probably 30 years old or more. If I can even find it, I'm not sure it would still be accurate. Do they go bad?

I need to hit AutoZone today anyways, so ...

I'm going to call this a 'Do', even only for a bad description. It may work fine, but there is nothing on the webpqage or box that says it has to be welded on. It even says hardware included. The picture isn't really clear about how it mounts either. One of the reviews mentions 'some welding', but isn't clear on what they mean.

They have another one that's bolt on, so I guess I'll have to exchange it next time I go.

I've probably bought and lost an antifreeze tester on an average of every five years for the last forty-five.
