What model Kubota do you have? Normally Kubotas have a real smooth sound to them... typical Japanese quality. My ZD326 and L3830 have a great smooth exhaust note. But that L2501 I had made a whole lotta racket!

Nothing beats the sound of a big displacement John Deere Diesel. They really bark! (0:

I have the Kubota listed in my signature, L3130. We did not know it at the time, but were both looking for tractors on craigslist at the same time. I was looking at a John Deere, had exchanged a few emails with seller, not sure about 2WD (I have some hills I need 4WD for) and then it was sold to someone else, turned out my brother bought it.. I found my Kubota a few months later on craigslist and bought it.

You most likely got the better tractor!

Looks like I never resolved this thread. It got delivered on the 26th of last month. I've been running it ragged since every chance I can get. It was irritating having to restart the whole break-in process, but I'm almost through with it.

Got 3 fields brushhogged, recovered an acre from the pines, smoothed out the driveway, started a logging road up behind the cut-out, tilled in a new garden space, planted 20 trees. This thing is a monster.

I re-plumbed the top-n-tilt so now it doesn't bind or leak down so much. After I finish sleeving all of the hydraulic lines, the next project is to widen the stance. The rears are at the minimum setting and it's a bit tippy.

Can confirm that the L2501 can handle a 66" RGR tiller in our heavy rocky clay soil. Didn't even hiccup. It also works great with a 66" Box Blade dragging a shale driveway uphill. It uses every hp and bit of traction to do it. The hydraulic auger is amazing for planting trees, we're going to do a couple hundred more in the spring. It has loaded ags and isn't a speed demon, but it gets the job done. It's a great compliment to the BX.

Glad it is working well for you and that Kubota took care of you!

Good to hear.

I may have missed it in the 10 pages. Did they get you a 'new' factory crate engine? a swap-reman? , rebuild yours? , swap tractor?

thanks.

Yes, good questions. Arcli9ht came back saying he never resolved this thread ... and then still did not tell us what the final solution was.

Got a call from the dealer last night. The new engine has showed up and they're installing it this week, so I should be able to have it dropped off this weekend or early next week. Looking forward to getting the workhorse back, there's still much to do before winter takes over.

I read this as a new engine and in a later post he says he's been running it ragged.
