Almost forgot.

The wife has also been very happy with her 2500 and hasn’t complained about anything other than a slow leak she got in one the tires.

Honestly don’t see what the problem with the mirrors is. Mine are fine on both rams, prefer them up but I tow almost constantly. When I do put them down I honestly haven’t found a need to adjust the small mirror at all so I really can’t understand what the need is for more electronics to automatically adjust them to a secondary setting. Adjusting the upper part only takes a second or two per side.

Both trucks pull like freight trains and if I were to tell here about some of the things that we have yanked around with them most wouldn’t believe it. No problems to speak of yet but I did delete the 2500 at about 100,000 miles and have put on an other 100,000 since.
With a little reprogramming of the tranns line pressures the shift points are much better than stock and there is no sluggish response or starts like some have mentioned.
Stock is also a great performer but it’s the older Cummings and doesn’t have the same emissions as the newer one. It’s also a manual but has performed flawlessly for a little over 300,000 and still runs strong.
Not one to pick but after all the bull crap I hear about people saying the Cummings is great but the dodge around it is ?? I can only say that if ford or Chevy would farm out thier truck building to Dodge I might consider buying an other one. I can count my problem dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth vehicles combined with out using all the fingers on one hand but for the ford or Chevy problem vehicles I would need to use the wife’s hands along with mine and still be short a finger or two!

Good luck with the new truck!

I just bought my 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 about 3 weeks ago. Always a fan of the Cummins, finally had the need for one. I like the low end torque, a ton of grunt.

I can honestly say, MY experience has been the exact opposite.

In fact, I have all three right now and the Dodge has had more problems than my Ford and WAY more problems any of the Chevys I have now, or in the past, for that matter.

The wiring in Dodges really sucks!!

Of the three Fords that I have owned, Had two heads crack, one under warranty one out of pocket, and then followed with a persistent coolant leak internal to the engine, two transmission failures, one which left parts on the road while coasting to a stop light. The two Chevy's have had an engine failure, and a transmission failure. the Two Dodge's have been a timing chain under warranty, air conditioner leak replaced under warranty, water pump and front brake calipers and hoses.

I know Dodge had a history earlier with their transmissions - they just couldn't hold up when hauling heavy loads. We picked up a New 2003 Ram 3500 and that truck has been rock solid. Still running it today and it spends it's whole life doing nothing but hauling stuff for the farm. You name it - Livestock, Tractors, Equipment, Hay, Feed, Logs/firewood, etc. It is a bit of a luxury vehicle for a work truck - Leather Heated Seats, Power everything, etc and no electrical issues other than the rear plug corroding. Good Luck with the new purchase - It should give you years of service.

Thanks. I put 120 miles a day on it and tow evenings and weekends for my side gig. I put 700-800 miles a week on it. Will definitely give periodic updates.

I have a 2016 RAM w Cummins. The RAM emblem on tailgate needed to be replaced. Also, the emergency brake release lever broke. Both items were replaced under warranty. 49,000 + miles on truck now. No other problems. I use truck to tow 14k dump trailer, and 14k equipment trailer. Sometimes I take the dogs to the lake, and occasionally a trip to Costco.

Wow! Vehicles definitely do not like you!

I'm in my 70s and have owned multiple Fords, Dodges and GMs since I started driving back in the 60s. Had very little trouble with ANY of them.

If there is one thing I don’t care for it is the giant RAM on the tailgate. Mine does not have it. I would like a dump trailer, saw some real nice ones on Tractor Time with Tim’s you tube channel.
