I read some of this thread and "WOW" is all I can say. I'll add my .02 cents worth. I've never seen a bucket that didn't leak down. They can leak down at the piston by leaking internally by the piston seal or at the loader valve "o" rings.

Then it would actually be possible to leak down without a bad valve because the rod is extending. But I wouldn’t recommend doing that because then all the oil of going to run out of the tank and the fuel will spill.

Isn't the fuel cap vent on a Kioti an "open on suck design?" The reason I say this is that I pulled the fuel line off on my tractor and very little fuel came out. I loosened the cap and all **** broke loose. I was checking for a fuel restriction per my local dealer's request a few months back when I had limp mode issues for the first time. He thought it was fuel related.

I think Kioti's fuel caps might not be all that great*. I had the dealer give me a new locking cap. The original one sucked, and it might have actually allowed water into the tank: I was regularly getting water in my fuel, fueling from the same source, and no other piece of equipment was trapping water.

* My Kubota B7800's fuel cap was also crap: it would strip and then be loose such that a full tank and hitting big bumps would cause fuel to spout out. Kubota redesigned it (I had to pay for that one).

Excellent point about turning the tractor upside down. But that would be ok, because any of the other cylinders that were previously extending would now be retracting and stop drifting. Right? So if there happen to be more of those, then it would be a net win! :dance1:

I go to great lengths (often missed by others, but it entertains me ) to caution about the use of the word "never."

It was the oddest issue for me. I am not sure the dealer had any problem in mind other than I'd mentioned that the original cap (locking) was cheesy (and it most certainly was). After changing the cap I've had no water issues. It's possible, though I'm not sure if it's all that probable (given the amount of fuel I'd run through this tractor up to that point), that there was water in the tank when I got the tractor. I drained my storage tank and found zero traces of water. I drained my Polaris (diesel) and found no traces of water. I drained my generator (diesel) and found no traces of water. My B7800 has a clear fuel bowl on it and there has never been any signs of water in it. Kioti lives outside and we get a LOT of rain here (well over 60" per year).

Easier way to test that... simply raise the front of the tractor up off the ground with the bucket. If it returns to earth that means the loader actually had to leak "up" not down

I saw this today. I didn’t see any angle iron laying on the cylinder rods or any other means of support. Is it a real good valve, a different design, aliens, pallets, stuck drain plug or something else holding it up?

That valve probably has load checks for the lift and rollback ports.

Intuitive, K5. :thumbsup: But Diesel said his cap is a locking cap. Therein lies a clue. With a locking cap, a directional valve doesn't necessarily have to be leaking in order for the water to leak down if the lock's seals are worn or missing. That's what I refer to as "water-lock leak", or "water-lock drift".

So how to test for that? Tough one. If Diesel were simply to turn his cap upside down to see if it holds water, as he proposes, that wouldn't isolate the problem. An upside down cap shouldn't hold water. That's because the lock's seals are designed only to resist external, not internal, pressure. Otherwise, Diesel might get a nasty vapor lock on a hot day and starve his injectors.

That's my theory, and I'm sticking with it. At least until someone comes up with a better one.
