It's easy to sit here and type what we would do in certain situations, and I have read some really good ways to handle the aftermath. In reality though none of us really know how we will act/react during and after a hostile situation. I hope that I never have to find out.
And we each will react slightly different in different situations.
Without degrading the situation I'd like to add a comment regarding the CC man in the video that died.
His initial reaction was spot on. The problem came when he hesitated to pull the trigger. Gave away his intent by walking 20-30ft gun drawn and not pulling the trigger. He gave away every advantage he had.
If had shot the perp within a couple seconds of pulling his weapon he would have had the advantage over the second perp. She would have instantly went into defense mode which would have given him the edge.
These scenarios are played out repeatedly in tactical training. Had this man experienced that training he would have probably acted much more aggressive. And he would probably be alive today.
God Bless him for his sacrifice.
