Have not used it yet but should be excellent. I sharpened the whole front of it so it will slice thru roots.

Later:thumbsup:

Had about everything else in the hosue at one time or another, might as well have a bx25 in there or parts thereof

Agreed... thanks for reviving this old thread. I have been thinking and gathering a few scraps to my my ripper/trencher. Still wrestling if I want more of a trenching (flat bottom shovel) design or a ripper w/ V design for laying buried wire or water pipes around my property.

Try Bro-Tek (bro-tek.com). They have a ripper tooth with an optional trencher attachment that you can bolt on. And, they also made me a quick attach mechanism, so I can swap it out with my BX 25 bucket very easily and quickly.

I made a ripper from a box blade scarifier. Welded a 1/2 chain link on the rear, and secured wires in it to bury. Worked well.

I have had my eyes on that, and have already have both Bro-Tek and BXpanded accessories. All have been great.

But I cut off both ends of my 72in back blade to make it more compatible with my BX, so I have two 4.5in scraps including the hard cutting edges. Seemed these 'drops' would be perfect for a fun DIY job for little investment. It will look ugly for sure and it that experiment doesn't prove out, I can then fall back on the Bro Tek… It isn't cheap though!
