It's not that important one way or the other. I can say Texas and you'd still have no idea the soil or altitude. Likewise, I'm no geography expert so I dont know what the "conditions" are in West Virginia even if you post that as your location. You still need to describe pertinent condition information regardless of your profile location. Unless, however, you want to post a GPS coordinate. No thanks....

Now, if you want to connect with some people in your area, its helpful. Not everyone wants that.

Those of you all concerned about it should not take it personally. I really dont want people know, but who I dont like, connecting what I do online with myself, regardless of the content.

Wait until you see the 2020 census. The amount of personal questions were astounding! We were picked as an early trial and no, there is no way all of those questions should be answered. One example: They have no business asking when you leave the house or come home from work. They acknowledge that the info will be given to the world to boost economic growth. What maintenance my house needs? Yeah, I can just imagine all the ads coming in the mail for windows and siding.

Yikes! If they ask how many Kubotas I have, I will be getting ads for some kind of treatment program! Well not really, because I won't tell them schmitt!

Sorry but none of your arguments pose any logical relevance to 99.8% of queries posted...

C'mon......have you lived and operated a tractor in every location on the planet and keep abreast of every local significance?...give me a break! or do you think of yourself as a "tractor omnipotent"? LoL....location is NOT germane to the majority of addressing and solving issues posted...when it rarely is, local conditions are usually cited early in a thread...

FYI listing a location is NOT important...generally if a specific location is paramount to being able to resolve an issue or answer a question the location or conditions are given...IMO wanting every member of TBN to post their location is just being nosy...plain and simple...

Put me in this column.

If still alive it’s just an other that I will give inaccurate answers to, wonder what goofy answers I can come up with for them this time around.

Nonsense...again, unless someone has personal local experience how would they know the particulars of an unfamiliar area?...or have you lived and operated a tractor in every location on the planet too?

No one is asking for mandatory location /pine. No one is going to use the knowledge of your location to harm you or demean you.
No one on this board is claiming to know everything there is to know about tractors or farming.

I find it interesting to read and learn about the experiences of posters from different areas, for example nasty snakes in the south, or the javelinas in Texas, both are unfamiliar to me where I live.
I also enjoy reading the posts of those who live in the same area as me, and feel a bit of a kinship with them.

Listing the location just help connect the dots.

They bundle the normal census questions with questions that will aid merchants and companies.

It is a total disregard against the peoples right to keep under the radar. Even when you do that, some of us are subject to identity theft and can be a real pain in the rump. I don't mind answering what I felt were correct census questions but I'm not revealing my lifestyle just to help the business world.

Yeah, I remember now, there was a couple that traveled to their home town for the census over 2000 years ago, ended up having a baby once there, in a manger of all places, then 33 years later they killed the child!
