I am with Jeff. I have seen many, many examples of location helping an OP zero in on a more informed decision. Is it necessary? No. Will the OP likely get better input if it is provided (at least state and closest city center) yes. Many examples of TBNers helping someone not as internet savy locate dealers in their areas. Lots of local craigslist and tractorhouse searches by TBNers that help folks get a better estimate for used value. Others TBNers notice they live close to an OP and can provide very detailed information (which might otherwise be unknown to OP) about soil conditions, use of certain implements in the area, and which dealers are good to work with.
When I originally posted, I not only included my city/state, but also my altitude. I got lots of great feedback, and actually met 2 local CO folks that helped me tremendously. Sorry, but to me it was invaluable to share.
The other day someone posted about Tyler, TX (just bought 6 acres there...thinking of a ZT or small CUT). My father lives in Tyler so I immediately knew the soil conditions (sandy loam) and that cows in the area always rut up the pasture. I would not have a ZT for mowing pasture in Tyler...just too dusty and bumpy.
Sorry but I think it is important if you want the best possible input from fellow TBNers. Now if you don't want to share, you certainly don't have to. I don't want everyone to think they must post it. We all have our reasons.
