Update on RX6010 with low hours motor failure

It sucks that happened and I would be very upset in same situation with such low hours.

However, warranties have a time limit and are not forever. While in some cases manufacturers will cover items or help with expense for out-of-warranty repairs, it's not a given. To state "it's just Kioti" implying any other would do it simply isn't true. Had some issues on my LS loader which was exactly 4 days past its 1 year warranty, under 75 hrs. "Sorry for your bad luck" was about best I could get from them, and repair work was 100% at my expense. So if LS wouldn't help any on a $400ish issue at extremely low hrs and less than 1 week out of warranty, a new engine probably wouldn't have been a reasonable expectation later on down the road either.

No idea how old OP's machine is. If it had the 4 year warranty & is now 6 or 7 that might be a factor as well?

Have you and your dealer escalated with Kioti? I had to do that before with Ford for two separate trucks - just keep being such a persistent nuisance they finally relented although only a little on the first one. Refusing to accept the dealer's, then Ford corporate's, initial "NO" answers was a time-consuming and frustrating process, but got them to resolve my issues....eventually. Might be worthwhile to start doing that now and keep a running log of your interactions here. You can then keep pointing them to this thread (along with # of views and responses) each subsequent time so they see the bad publicity not bending a bit is earning them. A picture of it sitting along the road in front of your property with a huge sign reading something like "$35,000 and dead under 500 hours. Kioti doesn't care!" might encourage them a little as well.

It was 5 years 3 months old I believe.

Yeah, I'm not the really vindictive type, just want others to know of my experiences. My personal perspective is that if I have to jump through hoops to pressure a company into doing something, it's not a company I want anything to do with.

Just going to repair, sell and move on......

The dealer believes 2 sleeves in the valve train came out trashing the motor. Repair cost is so high it makes more sense to put in a new motor.

Kioti has reviewed my case and will offer NO help.

I live in a large dairy area and I would bet there are over 30 tractor is within 3 miles of our home. I have talked with a number of different brand dealers and they have all guaranteed me that if something like that happened with the brand they sell a new motor would be installed free of charge.

What sleeves are in the valve train?
Thanks

I apologize for not spending the previous years posting exciting action shots of me bush hogging and spreading manure.

I'm curious what sleeves in the valve train failed as well. This really is the ground zero question. valves themselves do not have sleeves that can be changed in these engines, just the seals. Perhaps he meant a rod tappet? Did he say why the item may have failed?

VTDT, you could've fooled me.

Welcome to TBN. Sorry this happened to you, but c'mon, man. Your tractor was 15 months beyond the four-year powertrain warranty when the problem occurred. Kioti is simply standing by the terms of its warranty. Sure, they could give you some help, as you say. If you stayed with it and made a good case with corporate, maybe they still would. But you don't think you should have to "jump through hoops" to do it. My guess is that there's another side of this story: Kioti's. Looks to me like Murph called it right: Your purpose in joining this forum is to try to publicly shame them for doing what they, like any other tractor manufacturer, are perfectly entitled to do under the circumstances of your particular case.

My own experience with Kioti's service has been nothing but good. At 254 hours my 2014 NX4510HST/cab spun a bearing and threw a rod through the wall of the block. Five days after the tractor was pulled into my dealer's shop, Kioti had a brand-new engine sitting in the bay on a pallet. All repairs made under warranty. Had this happened fifteen months after the warranty expired, as in your case, I would have been upset for sure. But not at Kioti for refusing a warranty repair. I've always been a Kubota man, and still am, but I've been so impressed with my NX and Kioti's service, I added a 2018 CK a few months ago.

You report that you've talked with a number of dealers of other brands, and they've all "guaranteed" you that if this happened to the brands they sell, a new engine would be installed free of charge. Do you honestly believe that, and would they put that "guarantee" in writing? Talk is cheap when it's their competitor and they don't have to comp the repair. :) Reminds me of the lady in a butcher shop who asked the price of pork chops. "$4.99 per pound, Ma'am" said the butcher. That's outrageous! The shop down the street only wants $3.99 a pound. Butcher replies "Then why not buy them from him?" He doesn't have any, she says. "Oh, I see" says the butcher. "Well, when I don't have any, I only ask $3.50 per pound".

I apologize for not spending the previous years posting exciting action shots of me bush hogging and spreading manure.

Speaking of spreading manure and warranties, I know for a fact JD will not stand behind their manure spreaders even when under warranty.

I guess the reality is none of us expects to have to buy a new engine every few years. This is an unfortunate situation, but honestly I would move on as well.
