Years ago I was talking to a gunsmith about buying an AMT, which was the only autoloading .22 magnum at the time. He seemed to think that getting a .22 magnum to load without jamming is a challenge for some reason. I'm not sure if it's just that particular gun, or the reason why not many companies offer them.

My hands on experience with the Keltec .22mag is that it seems to run flawlessly. At least as many rounds as the owner would let me fire thru it, as .22mags are kind of expensive. (100 rounds).

I have a Henry's lever action .22 mag that is very fun to shoot. I just wish .22 mag ammo was as bit more reasonable in price.

I have never fully understood why .22mag is so much more than .22LR in general.

And for the record, we really really really need a sarcasm font. :)

I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad, I was just trying to "make a funny". And point out some of the laughable conclusions that people that know nothing about firearms and cartridges (most reporters and news personalities) come to.

I think that the Keltec also might be a better quality gun than the AMT.

I don't understand the price difference in ammo either. I have the magnum cylinder in my single six but may swap the .22 in just so that I can afford to shoot it.

Never mind shooting an intruder, the sound of that going off ought to scare them to death!

My dad fired a 6mm Remington inside the house one day, and I must have jumped 3 foot off of the floor. And this was with the barrel almost out of the door. I am not sure if the windows would withstand the blast pressure of firing a 500 S&W inside of a house.

You don't think you won't go down if you take a .22LR to the head?

My other point which I didn't bring up is it's ALL about shot placement and how well you hit what you're aiming at.

Of course you will, but you won't if hit in the leg, arm, etc. Center of mass? Maybe but not like a 45.

As for bullet placement? It goes out the window pretty much in the heat of the battle. That is why they train "center of mass"

Is it just me, but that Keltec trigger on the 22 mag is one of the lightest out the box factory triggers I've ever shot.
