I will not buy a 3 point setup because that is expensive and heavy and ties up those attachments.
You might be thinking about something different, because they are not expensive or heavy. In fact, mine weighs ballpark about the same as the drawbar and ball that I slide in it. They cost $50-200 depending on the type and where you buy them. Some you can even assemble from a couple typical 3-point hitch components.
True, it does tie up the 3-pt hitch, but they are easy to put on and take off, and you're not going to be towing anything from the drawbar if you have another implement on the 3-pt hitch anyway.
Another option, for folks that tend to have a certain implement attached most of the time, is to see if you can mount a receiver or ball mount to the implement. Seen a lot of folks do that with box blades.
Finally, a lot of folks will mount something to their front bucket instead -- there are clamp on receivers, for instance. This lets you move and position trailers from the front bucket.
Anyhow, there are lots of options that are not expensive or heavy, and that offer a lot of versatility. Unfortunately, the drawbar on most tractors is setup for pulling and is not real amenable for trailer towing or moving trailers around. That is why there are a lot of other options available.
