These hoses all have external cracks and at least one is leaking. In this case I think all new hoses is warranted.

Although the guy that pulled the loader insisted the hoses were all good because he could bend them. :)

I really like my 4310. Bought it new in 2004. But have been kicking myself since then for not getting the loader at that time. Bought a 300R FEL for it a week ago. Paid $5009 including tax, in Orleans, Indiana. I could not find a used one to fit this tractor anywhere within reasonable distance. They wanted another $185 to install it, so I decided to do it myself. I don't have a large shop, it took my son and me a good couple of hours to get it on, and had to use an electric winch in the attic. If you do this, you should understand fully how the thing works normally (on-off) so you know how it needs to go on. (Also edit: the hyd quick connectors on the 4310 will NOT take the tips from the 300R loader, at least the ones that came with the one they sent me. The quick connects are too small - 3/8 and need to be 1/2. So if you order this, tell the dealer you need 3/8 hoses, or you will need to replace the quick connects on the tractor (which is what i did). Since the guy told me it would fit, he compensated me with a filter pack, which was nice).

Also, I'll do more searching here, but I can't get the front lower axle drain plugs out. They are pretty much rounded inside at this point. One is recessed even, and so I can't get anything on it. I'll try to seat an allan tip in it and try to draw it out. The other one is exposed enough, I think, to get a vice grip on. But - if I can't get them out, instead of trying to drill them out or other means, can't I just crack the case, let the oil out, bolt it back up? I might need a new gasket, though?

sparky
Don't think I'd mess with draining the front axle.. unless you have good reason to believe that the fluid is compromised some how.

How many hours on the front axle ?

Sounds like the failed attempts to remove them just damaged them too much.

Tractor has 540 hours, and I hate to admit - I've never been able to get those plugs out. In the past I have drained the axle thru the center plug, added new, and called it good. I figured I ought to try to get that remaining fluid out, but maybe no? I even thought about getting one of those electric drill fluid pumps and snaking a tube down there, see if that would work. But, no, there isn't any indication of any problems at all in the front axle. No leaks.

The 300R is rated at 999 lbs lift. Probably about the same as a stock 420. My dealer quoted $4900 plus tax for the 320R loader which is probably similar to the older 430 at 1122 lbs lift.

My revamped 420 should have the higher lift capacity with the larger cylinders and will also go much higher. I am planning to set my tires to the wide position and be very careful. I doubt seriously I will ever raise the loader to max lift. My main use for this setup is going to be for grapple use. As soon as I get the loader done I am going to order a grapple. I am going to use a solenoid selector valve for the third function. The 4310 has an unused third spool valve on it but I'm thinking I may want to use that later for a hydraulic top link. I will do a separate thread on my loader and third function when it's all done. I made the knob and wired the switch in the other day so that is ready to go.

Very nice!

I have been real pleased with my 4310 e-pwr reverser. I've had it 4 years now and have had no serious issues with other then a neutral safety switch and the silly seat safety switch in cold weather. Thing has had zero issues handling 4x5 round bales with the 420 loader. I liked it so much that this fall I went and bought a 4400 hydro with cab for snow blowing.

That will probably come in handy for a bit.
