XR40646 Engine Shutdown Mode

My tractor is a hydrostatic. Would this still apply?

It should not matter. My XR3037HC is hydro and I never put the L/M/H selector in neutral. I can start mine with or W/O sitting in the seat. There may be a switch on the hydro F/R pedals (but haven't looked). Parking brake also does not have to be on to start but will beep if you get off the seat without applying the brake. I've never tried to start mine with the electronic PTO engaged but that may have an interlock switch.

I guess if I ever had a no start situation I'd have to look through the service manual eleictrical circuits to see what switches could be preventing start. So far most of the replies are a guess like mine. Now that its at the dealer I'm sure he'll get it figured out.

It depends on whether or not the manufacturer decided to put a neutral safety switch on it.

With today's litigious society, I'm thinking there's more OEM using them than before. Plus........ Don't the newer tractors idle higher that before? That alone might necessitate the need for NSS. Turn it over, it fires and 'BAM!!' It runs over the neighbor's dog. bummer

I always look at the easiest and cheapest thing first. Like I said, if it's easy and cheap to check it.........

After three weeks at the dealer and $260.00, tractor was fixed by replacing the ECM board. Very disappointing for a tractor that never sits outside and only has 200 hours on it.

This wasn't covered under the 5 year, 3000 hour emissions warranty?

Dealer said it wasn't. I thought it should have been as well. I definitely need to investigate. Not sure where to even start to even find out this info. I'm guessing a call to corporate..

The below is an excerpt from the LS website page on warranties.

I agree, you need to investigate. I'd start with your dealer again and then call LS corporate.

Excerpt:

The Federal and California Emission Control System on all 25 HP and above engines in LS tractors are covered under a limited manufacturer warranty coverage for 5 years or 3,000 hours, provided there has been no abuse, neglect or improper maintenance or usage of your engine. Additional conditions and owner responsibilities apply. Please see your owners manual for more details.
