I checked the grounds around the battery. I never considered any others. Very good idea.
my standard go to for any electrical problem has always been A- fuse B- grounds C- switch D -short.
now I do realize that this could be in the 'regen' part of the computer and may not be electrical at all. Hope you find it and it turns out it's an easy fix

If it was a car, I'd guess a neutral safety switch. Just a WAG. Not even a SWAG.
As long as it's easy, and cheap, to check.
