Local tractor hauling for private party sale

Your local U-haul could be a good resource.

Nope!
It is very unlikely that your tractor wheel spacing will fit the U-Haul car track width.

Buy a bigger trailer and either keep it because you'll need it again, or sell it once you are done with it.

So..oo...ooo true!

If you own a tractor....you NEED A TRAILER !!

Yeah it might be too narrow. But it'll probly fit.

Didn't fit for me!
Had to hire (expensive) a rollback to do the job.

Yeah that happened to me, too.

Years ago, I went to buy a Kubota L2500, about 100 mi away. Got a Uhaul car-hauler trailer. Both
front and rear track on the tractor was too narrow, so I had to flip the wheels around. Good thing
they were AG tires. R4s would not have been adjustable (much).

Still, I left with one of the front tires up on the edge of the steel channel. Not unsafe, but not what
I want to do again.

These days, I try to get a guy who moves tractors for a dealer, or rental yard. Sometimes, Craigs List. But
the driver must have insurance! I have also used tow companies, but they need to commit to a fixed price first.

Yup....same issue!

Tractor (Sweet little 32HP Ford 1920 TL) was 450 miles away.
Called U-Haul there, and reserved trailer.
Drove my 9 mpg. tow vehicle 450 miles.

Bought tractor.
Went to pick up trailer, and discovered U-Haul trailer tracks were too wide.
Called local towing company with a rollback.
Drove my 9 mpg. vehicle 450 miles back home - towing nothing!.

Paid $1150 for rollback job.
I learned a lesson!

Bought a new 14K trailer following Spring.
Will NEVER be without an equipment trailer again.

I am looking for another used tractor now.
Don't care where it is.
Within 1000 miles I will go get it!
Over 1000 miles I won't buy it!

Try Uship.com. Sometimes you catch them with room on a trailer, or in between loads, or coming back, etc. No one wants to travel empty in any direction. I've shipped a couple cars, a 750 Bike, etc usually at half the going rate. YMMV.

I used uship.com to move a 44,000 pound excavator I sold across country, Very cost effective

If you want to rent a trailer to haul a tractor - - you need to rent an equipment trailer. Contact United Rentals or another similar rental agency that rents heavy equipment for construction. They rent equipment trailers suitable for hauling a tractor. They may also have chains, binders or heavy rachet straps available for rent. 10,000 lb. trailer rental should be only $70 per day - - may have a minimum rental fee. Make sure your truck can handle the trailer and tractor weight before you go this route.

Would United allow renting of an equipment trailer, to be dropped at a different United location hundreds of miles away?
I am thinking NOT !!
