So it looks like, according to that very handy link swampy6, the 8 holes may actually be original and a previous owner replaced the old 'counter' with the 'bar style'.

If you 'repair' the holes you may be diminishing the price, not increasing it.

That痴 a nice cooler. Does anybody remember the chest coolers like this but they had a flat top with slats where the bottles hung from? You put in a coin and slide the bottle along the rail and pulled it up to get it out.
I went to catholic school and they had one in the church basement. My buddy and I (about 8 years old) would pop the bottle tops with an opener, then lay on our bellies and sip soda with straws until we felt like we were going to burst. That痴 about the extent of my criminal history, and we never were caught.

Not just soda coolers, but also milk coolers with the same design. I don't remember if they dispensed pint or halve pint bottles of white and chocolate milk. I loved the creamy chocolate milk. :licking:
