I would use a Napa Gold or a Wix if I had the chance. I'm sure the Mahindra one is made by the lowest bidder. There is an auto parts shop near me that previously was a Napa shop but gave them up because of the costs but they have an interchange service that was able to cross the old filter part number to a Wix. I should call them and see if they have the new one in their system yet.
The NAPA Gold 1324 is not a direct cross over to the new, shorter Mahindra filter. Mahindra filters are not listed in the cross over list. It is the same as far as the filter size, gasket size, and thread size, 20 mm x 1.5. The counter man looked at the NAPA filter specs and printed them out, which I posted below. The NAPA filter is made to specific small diesel specs and that is why my brother said to use it. When things warm up in northern Illinois, I'll perform an oil/filter change and install the NAPA filter. I'll post the results.
