Now you are getting older - what don't you do?

Right Diggin it. Many years ago I gave up trying to get eight straight hours of sleep or six. Now - it's two or three here and again later in the day. I might even be able to get four if I go to bed around 11 or 12 pm. It's the pits. Around 2pm I get sleepy and need a nap.

So I go on a day long road trip. I better figure on a nap around 2pm or I might doze off at the wheel.

Maybe get a sleep study.
I used to snore badly, and sleep only in spurts also.
Had a sleep study done 5 years ago.
I now use a CPAP, and sleep like a baby.

Just contacted a (rather eccentric) guy I know, trying to find a certain transformer. We had long talks in the past. He can't hear worth a crap, but has never mentioned it. He just says, what, what? What a shame, I can't communicate with this individual. Why are people so vain? Everyone has this shield around them, that only hurts them in the end.

Watt, that an electrical measurement unit!

Know what U experienced.
Tried to help a quite capable mechanic today to troubleshoot a huge highway type snow blower.
Problem was he was more deaf than I am. (my hearing is shot above 1000 hertz, OK under that)
Communications were virtually impossible plus he'd not look at me to lip read. (I have developed that ability somewhat)

In my case. chain saws, outboards, and aircraft did my ears in.
Oh. Live and learn, LOL but I've lived too long to learn any more.

I have a torn rotator cuff on my shoulder. The doctor wanted to fix it. I asked how long after the operation I'd be able to use a clamshell post hole digger in hard dry ground. He said "never" and wanted to know whether I also wanted a full head of hair. What I want is another doctor.

He may not even realize he can't hear. That was my problem. I just thought family was talking quietly, cause when they looked at me I could hear them. Wasn't until I made a trip overseas and I couldn't understand the immigration officer (speaking english) did I realize that it was me that had a problem.

It seems people do not project their voice when they speak anymore. It seems with all of the electronic gadgets, texting, social media etc. that speaking to another person is a lost art.

Except my wife is keeping it up on the phone for half of each day.

Oh man. What a thread. Made me think. And glad I'm not alone.

Fairly healthy here. Approaching mid 50's.

Vision isn't what it used to be. And trying to hear conversation over background noise in a crowd? Forget it.

I still work just as hard as I did when I was younger, but boy does my body ache now.

When I was younger, I could miss an entire night of sleep and really function ok until the next night when I'd sleep soundly. If I do that now, it takes days for me to recover.

I'm much more careful about my knees and shoulders. Rotator cuff injuries limit my sphere of movement in my shoulders. And I no longer jump from things like tail gates (as others have mentioned), instead choosing to be more careful about my dismount.

I've also learned to embrace things that I disdained when I was younger...like dress pants that have an expandable waist. :) Or a good nap in the afternoon.

I find that sometimes I just do not have it in me to deal with the cold weather. And the arthritis in my hands can be downright painful after working them hard in cold weather or using cold metal tools.

All that aside...I still find that this is the best time of my life. I'm very comfortable in the man that I've become, I'm a good person, and am clear on what I enjoy in life. I've got a good job, and advanced education, and thoroughly enjoy living in my log home on wooded acreage. Not much beats a Saturday morning enjoying coffee (before starting to work outside) in a log home while watching deer and turkey in the yard daily. And I still give a family friend (young man) a run for his money on the motocross track or on the trails...but pay for it with body aches afterwards.

Intersex baby痴?? Give me a brake. Last I knew you were born with a dipstick or a place to put one.
Given the insanity of today痴 culture, i知e glad to live in the sticks and be as old as I am.

Walk through the snow barefoot...I hadn't even realized this until I needed something from the truck tonight and had to find my shoes to do it.
