RX7320 problems @7 hrs on the meter

I see possible problem here. If the dealer installed the block heater, it's unlikely that the manufacturer will stand behind any repairs. They will probably throw it back to the dealer who possibly did an improper install. If the block heater is a genuine Kite part, then they may have some liability.

It looks to be the same brand as mine from 2010, a Katz brand I believe to fit a Kioti. They aren't usually needed on Kite(s)!, unless in very cold winds! :)

To the OP be careful about 'pulling something like the oil pan yourself, you could void the very warranty you need to get you through, same with bore scoping after removing the injectors, both are great ideas; if you're going to do either procedure, have your dealer do it and show you the results as they occur in their shop.

Sorry I have been AWOL for a bit here fellas. Trying to keep calves alive in this weather has been rough. I appreciate all of your suggestions. I will get an oil sample sent off, that is a good plan. If anything in the oil sample suggests damage, it will give me more ammunition to get things set right.
Either way, anything being done with the tractor will have to wait till after this weather improves. I'm out, I gotta grab a few hours of shuteye!

I値l add my $.02:

1-I壇 go ahead and pull an oil sample and send it to Blackstone. If any piston/ring/ cylinder material scuffed it might show in an analysis.

2-make sure dealer has a written statement that clearly states the tractor was suspect to overheating due to coolant loss and you noticed a power loss along with the RPMs unable to go above 2000.

The thing is no one knows how hot it got. Gauge will be useless without coolant passing over it. If that heater popped out at 1 hour and you ran it 6 more without coolant, the engine will have damage.

Personally, I壇 push for a new machine.

x2 on this. an oil sample will tell you most everything you need to know in a situation like this, and would be great evidence to use moving forward.

I have never seen what the printed results of an oil analysis looks like. I do think that an engine with 7 hrs. on it is barely broken in and will normally have a lot of metal filings in the oil.

I was thinking the same thing. Still, it would also detect any coolant in the oil. Maybe there is a "normal" range of metal particulate suspended in the oil for an engine during break in, and if damage had occured perhaps it would be well outside of this normal range.

Well, up to this point the tractor had been running. It appears that even after it gelled up the first time they still did not properly treat the fuel and it gelled up again. Now its stopped in the driveway not running. So much for the reliability of a new tractor. I just called over to the guy that bought my old 1981 john deere...whaddya know, it's still up and running.

On a lighter note, it appears that my cow has been getting out of her pasture at night. It seems that she gave birth to a calf elk!

Undertstanding your Blackstone oil report on Vimeo this is a demo, from Blackstone oil analysis labs. Check out their site. We're looking for abnormal results on the engine oil, especially coolant.

This is true to large degree, and something I had not considered. But I still think there is still a lot of value in a sample in this situation. Especially when looking at viscosity readings and film strength. Fluid degradation will be apparent in overheated oil, where regular, normally used oil, that is full of breakin materials will not be degraded very much from a viscosity, or film strength standpoint, especially at 7 hours of use. When oil overheats, larger molecules break down (refered to as thermal breakdown) which can be directly seen in the amount of additives still left in the oil. Barium, Calcium, Magnesium, as detergents can break down creating gases and acids.

You would need a reference sample of the type of oil used in your tractor to properly compare figures, especially when it comes to the TAN (total acid number), amount of additives, and viscosity.
