Don, that is a funny motto on the hiking club seal. Glad the trail opening went well and your hard work is paying off.

Rick, great looking courthouse...never seen one with seating on either side of judge facing each other. Is that for opposing sides to keep a sharp eye on each other? What is the "desk" in the middle that faces the judge?

Now ..... aren't you glad you held up on chopping on your implements Drew?

You bet. Nothing like a happy ending.

Billy, I think that little desk is where the stenographer sits. Grew up in local courthouse, my Mother was one of first lady lawyers in the County, and in the "old days" the stenographer sat very close to front so she could hear the testimony and get it correctly entered.
I'm sure it's all electronically recorded by microphone today.

Poured first cup of coffee. 22° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 45° with sun all day. Back to arranging stuff in the barns so I can get at equipment.

Washing boots in kitchen sink would get me that look. Where do you think your sleeping tonight? We have a 2 laundry tubs. 1 next to washer dryer and a double in cellar. No excuse to use kitchen sink.

David, handicap pulls make for easy access.

Don, nice trails.

Buckeye, that load of wood should keep you warm for awhile.

Drew, like the pin adjusting for 3ph arms.

LS, like the cabinet.

RNG, how are the roof leaks on van?

Good Morning All.

I looked in there on Sunday before I drained the transaxle, and it was dry as a bone, Ron. Since then, the nose of the van has been up in the air and we've picked up almost two additional inches of rain, so if it's still dry when I check later today, I think I'll call that one done. Fingers crossed...

And that is my excuse: There is no utility tub or sink here. I thought about putting one in the garage, and there will be one in the shop, but the best I can do right now is the stainless steel kitchen sink for such tasks as cleanup on muddy stuff and hot water rinses of car and motorcycle parts. On the latter, I'll lay an old bath towel in the sink first to keep from scratching the stainless. So far, no one around here seems to mind...

That's what I figured.

With Birds and your garbage disposal repairs. We do not have one. Do not have a dishwasher either. Now a days we use a lot of paper plates. Designated dishwasher says that it's too hard to lift them heavy dishes. OK with me. I don't like washing dishes either. :D

The disposal that came with this house developed a crack in the housing and had to be replaced, but otherwise has been problem free. I think it took longer to clear all the stuff out from under the sink than it did to swap in the new unit. Since I'm on a septic system, I don't use it a lot, but it does come in handy for cleaning up really messy stuff.

As far as a dishwasher goes, there was a big empty spot in the kitchen where one usta be when I bought the place, and I found a lady on Craig's List that was so very unhappy with her new Whirlpool dishwasher she made Sears give her another one. I got that horrible dishwasher for $75 nine years ago, and so far, I haven't found a thing wrong with it. You might ask why a single person would need a service for twelve? I'd have to reply "so he only has to run the dishwasher once a week!".

I know snowbirds that use paper and plastic dining utensils when they're camping out in the desert to avoid washing dishes and using water. But I like the feel of quality stainless steel flatware, and I found some melamine plates that are light weight and look just like old time porcelain iron for the van. It'll have a 15 gallon fresh water tank, plenty for the two or three day stays I'll be making...

42 and windy going to 55. Just enough of a shower last night to wash the pollen off my truck...yesterday was the first pollen "paint job" of the year.

Farmeratheart, that's a nice load of firewood...enough to wear a man out for a day.

Got a load of firewood split and stacked, and changed the oil in my truck. Couldn't get the metal oil filter drain plug to screw off the oil filter housing...I must have tightened it too much last time. It has an o-ring. When I tried to unscrew it, the whole housing came off with it. The housing is plastic, so I took it to my vise, into which I tightened an old socket wrench and then tried to loosen the plug by gripping it and trying to turn the housing. No luck. Any ideas?
