Nice old saw ahead of their time. Partner designed and made jred 490. Topend still looked like new.

^^^^
Those 490's were tough and cut a lot of wood around here before we started using feller-bunchers.

Bought it from a young guy that buys lots and flips. I knew what he had. He didnt. ;)
I took a chance on the topend being bad with price.
Worst case it was a parts saw.

Resold it already. Still waiting on pick up.

Not around here they dont. 50% of new price and up down on condition. Some more some less.

This saw sold for new for $600 before tax. I just sold it for $350. I like quick sells and not storing saws though. I'm not out after every frigging dollar like some folks are it seems. Like someone would at 850 on a 461 IMHO.]
That may be, but we are 600 miles away and most of them in good shape were selling for more on eBay. Seems to be a popular saw.

Guess I should have hired an agent. Moot now as I got a little-used one locally for cash. Probably sell it next fall after these projects are done.

Jonsered saws don't get much respect here on the left coast. I have only had one, a 520SP, which I bought working, just to see how it was built and how well it ran. Nice 52cc saw, which I sold pretty cheap. It took a while on Craigs as the brand was little known here.

Was this just recently? That's an antique. It hasn't been made in 35 years.

I would not say Jonsered saws do not get respect out here in the West. It is more that they are not known in my opinion.

A couple years ago. You are right, it was a 1984 model. The top was clearly marked, "Jonsereds", the old name.

And as for respect, one can't respect some brand you don't know about.

I have yet to see one of the current Jonsered saws, which seem to be plentiful back East.

Isn't the Jonsered name being discontinued? I thought they were all being switched over to RedMax (both of which are owned by Husqvarna anyway).

I do not see their 70+ cc saws on their website anymore, but the smaller Jonsereds are still there. Husky owns the Redmax, Jonsered, PoulanPro, McCulloch, and other brands. I wish that they would not dilute their Husky brand with cheaper homeowner-grade saws. There is plenty of overlap between different Husky chainsaw brands and some parts.
