Chainsaw use - alone

   / Chainsaw use - alone #51
I use my saws alone 90% of the time. As others have said, I would never get anything done if I had to have someone around. I actually get distracted by others anyway but it would be nice to have someone around and observing but not necessarily helping.

Our kids are now grown and out of the house, so it's just me and the Mrs. here most of the time. I do almost everything alone when it comes to taking care of my property. My wife really never knows where I'm at and even if she did I usually have the side x side with me if I'm doing forestry work. In fact I ran my chainsaw for an hour tonight after work, not a soul around, and I like it that way. If I get hurt or killed, so be it as it was meant to be. I feel more comfortable falling a tree than I ever will driving on a busy two lane road and seeing idiots texting, drunk, etc.

Alone probably 95% of the time. I think it would be less safe to have others around.

I work in the woods alone most of the time. My wife and some of kids will join me at times, my middle son is 11, and wants to help with things, but I'm more nervous with them around, watching out for them too. I like to think Im more likely to roll the tractor than get hurt with the saw. I treat both with a healthy dose of respect.

Almost always alone.
Somewhat reminds me of the statistic about being much more likely to die of a gunshot if you have a hand gun in the house. Yes, except I don't get drunk and have fights with my wife and family on any sort of regular basis. Just saying not all statistics apply equally. They are situational to a large extent.

Guess the million dollar question is, how long would it take to bleed out and loose consciousness? Having someone (maybe) think about you every couple of hours, and then another hour worrying that you might not be O.K. might not help you.

You will probably make it out of the bush on your own, given the nature of your injuries, or you won't.

If you have a woman in your life, that won't at least be present and help to the extent that she can, what good is that relationship to a man? I mean, your buddies can't always be around, but a woman should be.

And you should always be around when she's doing her daily chores......... :confused3:

I heat with wood and go through 8-10 full cords a year. If I waited to cut with someone I would get very cold in the winter. I cut alone probably 95% of the time.

I tried that, my wife kicked me out of the kitchen & laundry room.
Not allowed to make beds either.
